Day Beach Trip

We are planning a trip for October, but want to jaunt over to a beach for a day to take the kiddos. Any recs?

My favorite for a day trip from Orlando is Clearwater Beach. It does though take about two hours to get there. // Coco Beach is about an hour away if you want something closer, but we always take the extra time and go to Clearwater. Clearwater is a big wide beach with soft sand and calm water. There is a pier there too and nearby places to eat. It's an active beach which I personally prefer to a more isolated setting. There are also various dolphin / mansion tours -- little outing you can take if you want. Also, Clearwater has the Clearwater Marine Aquarium (home to Winter) the Dolphin Tale if you or your kiddos saw that movie.
