Just got back from the 4 day Wonder cruise and it was really wonderful. This was our first cruise and we really enjoyed ourselves. Just a few things that we were wondering about. Has anyone ever suggested to Disney to take out the day at Freeport and add another day at Castaway CAy. That island was absolutely fantastic!! Also, I had heard that the pools were small, but I felt that the family pool was ridiculous. Was wondering if they would consider switching the adult and family pools. I wrote these suggestions on the comment card. Was just wondering what others felt on these topics.

Rumors are that DCL is considering an overnight stay at CC but.........the bugs are terrible starting at dusk. That is why on a couple of cruises that have had to alter their itenerary due to weather and made 2 stops at CC they left and came back. If you read about Gallagos Island you can get more of an insight as to what it was before DCL baught it.

I too love Castaway Cay, and cannot wait till my next DCL trip so that I can enjoy it again. But my idea of a cruise includes different ports of call and activities each day. If I wanted to visit the same beach everyday, I would probably visit a beach resort. You are right on the money about the onboard pools, they are quite small (have only cruised DCL, so I assume they are small on other cruise lines as well.).

I do not know about two days at CC... But, I just have to wonder why in the world DCL continues to renew their contracts with Freeport... I just do not see one thing offered there that is worth the stop... At least Nassau has lots of choices... Blue Lagoon, Catamaran Snorkel Tour, Atlantis, etc... etc... But, absolutely nothing new or different or better to see and do at Freeport.... Nothing worth giving up the one Day-at-sea for!

twilight, what did you do at Freeport? Did you go onshore? Any tips?

Thanks!

I loved Freeport, I would rather they dumped the Nassau stop. We went to Our Lucaya and it was just so wonderful there, the pool a few feet from a nice beach, plenty of chairs, it was a very nice day for us there.

DCL does not "own" castaway cay, they have a long term lease. I talked to one CM about this on the island walk in January. I believe he said it was a 19 year lease or something... This could also be why they are not further developing the island. As far as the bugs, DCL could deal with them if they wanted. If anyone is familiar with Marthas Vineyard in Massachusetts, you very rarely see a biting bug there. They are aggressive and treat the island constantly. DCL could do something like that if they wanted to...

I beleive the lease was for 99 years (like Hong Kong used to be between China and Britian).

Regarding switching the Family and Adult pools. Upon first glance at the adult pool - you would say it's 3 times larger than the family pool. But the adult pool is only a couple of inches deep on both sides - until I saw someone sitting on the sides I thought it was huge. The blue tiles are really decieving. I think that the family pool is larger than the adult "pool" part - not the shallow edges.

I think that on the 4 day cruises Disney should consider adding a third alternating itenery that would include 2 days at CC instead of a stop in Freeport or Nassau. (I assume DCL still has 1) Nassau, CC and a sea day and 2) Nassau, FreePort CC). CC could handle 4 days per week without much impact upon its beauty. More days than that and we will start to notice an impact from too much use on the beach (I've seen all of the crap people will leave on the beach, in the water in the vegetation etc and the destruction of the vegetation and infrastructure - there are a few people who do a great job of trashing things for the rest of us!)
