Day 8 Friday 7/13/01 It's Friday. Must be fish day.

Cast of Characters:

Me - Now referred to as Spanky thanks to Cousin Dave at 50's Prime Time. 3rd trip.
Michelle - My lovely wife who has had to endure all the changes that I've thrown at her concerning this trip. Is now starting to understand my Disney obsession. 6th trip.
Devon - An eating machine. Just turned 15 but still my baby. 3rd trip.
Jordan - Loves to have things his way. Just turned 12. 3rd trip.
Camryn - A true princess. 3 almost 4 going on 25. Now also referred to as Sugar Booger. Also thanks to Cousin Dave. Willing to try anything once. 1st trip. She is so excited.

Friday the 13th. Nothing bad ever happens on Friday the 13th does it? Today is Jordan's day. He gets to call the shots. When we collapsed into bed last night, we had two sick boys. Today, everyone wakes up feeling great. What a relief. It's no fun to be sick, especially in a hotel room.

We hit the Coral Café this morning for breakfast. All the usual buffet items are available. A nice selection of pastries and cereals. Of course I blow right past these. I have the Emeril Lagasse attitude. Pork Fat Rules. Give me the bacon, sausage, and ham. This and about five glasses of fresh squeezed orange juice and I am ready to roll. We had been comp'd this breakfast (remember the fire alarms?), so we got out for free!!

Jordan likes to fish. When we were planning he ran across a description of their fishing trips. I had done some more checking and found that they have a Junior Fishing Excursion for kids. It runs weekdays and leaves from the Boardwalk. It was described as a 1 hour fishing adventure in the waters around Epcot. So off we head to drop off Jordan. We get to the boardwalk and ask where the boat is. They tell us that we need to go over to the Yacht Club marina. We walk over to the YC and ask about the boat. They say no, you have to go back to the Boardwalk. This kind of remind you of the go ask your mother, go ask your father type routines. So after I tell the CM that I just came from the Boardwalk and they told me to come here, he runs inside and makes a call. Turns out that the boat loads in the canal back behind the Boardwalk, but they will bring the boat over to pick him up.

Soon Jordan and 3 other youngsters are on their way to catch the one that got away. They tell us to meet them at the Boardwalk about noon. That's 2 hours! I thought this was supposed to be a one-hour trip. Oh, well. They will have a great time. The rest of the clan heads to the Boardwalk to do some shopping. We hit the shops, play some games in the arcade and check out the pool. We head over to await the returning fishermen and they soon arrive. Jordan has caught 2 Large Mouth Bass and 4 Bluegills. They tie up and decide to fish some more. Today they are using hotdogs as bait. All the kids had a great time and everybody caught fish. Captain Terry was wonderful with the kids. Total $30.00 plus tip. They even provided snacks and drinks for the kids.

After we drag Jordan off the boat, it is time to head to Epcot for some lunch. We had a 1:00 PS for Le Cellier. We arrive right on time and are seated immediately. Where are all the people? The place is maybe half full. The décor here is wonderful. Very relaxing and intimate. Michelle and I each have a bowl of the Cheese Soup and then split the open faced sirloin sandwich. Devon has a sirloin sandwich of his own. Jordan goes for the steakburger and Camryn opts for the chicken fingers. She really likes her chicken. The pretzel breadsticks that they bring are sinful. This has been one of the better meals that we have had since arriving. A definite repeat. Total after tip came to $61.70. Told them we were too full for dessert. Truth was I was dying to grab a couple Beaver Tails when we got out of there. Cinnamon and sugar on both. I had to fight the kids to get a single bite.

O.K. Now it's off to Test Track to try to acquire the coveted Fastpass. No Luck. They have already handed out all they are going to today. The standby line listed a wait time of 45 minutes. I must ride this! Last trip we were here it was not open. They were testing it, but not allowing anyone on. This time I must try. I convince everyone to wait in line and it actually moved very quickly. Maybe 15 minutes and we are now in the queue area. Sugar Booger is now starting to get a little gun shy. She has seen the cars whooshing by outside and doesn't think she wants any part of this. I try to convince her that mom's driving on the highway is no comparison to what she will experience here. I finally do the unthinkable. I bribe her. I know I know. Never bribe a kid. You will scar them for life. I knew she would love this ride though. We take our ride and everyone loves it. Sugar Booger has now voted this as her favorite ride. It even knocks Splash Mountain off the top on her list. I still have to pay her off with the baby Simba stuffed toy, but it is worth it. For the rest of the trip and even now, she wants to go back and ride this again.

We now head to see Honey I Shrunk the Audience. Along the way we come across a path with little musical things built into the sidewalk. When you step on them, they make sounds. Kind of like the piano on the floor in the movie Big. Well, all the kids have a great time just jumping up and down on these. This is one of those kind of off the beaten path trails and nobody is around. It's always fun when you stumble across these things. Eventually, we head on to the theatre and walk right in without a wait. I love all the 3D shows and this one is no exception.

Time now to head back out to the Dolphin, rest a bit, and regroup for another E-night. We do stop by the Boardwalk on the way back to pickup a couple of items that we had seen at ESPN earlier in the day. Right outside ESPN we find a mother duck who has made a nest in one of the big planters. We take a few pictures and tried not to disturb her. She seemed to be pretty used to people being around though.

For dinner, Jordan had decided on 50's Prime Time. I tried to convince him that since the rest of us just ate there last night, that we should try something new. No go. He has always loved this place. We concede and the PS's have been made. Now it is my turn. What is that rumbly in the tumbly. It is now me who is acquiring this nasty flu bug. I go ahead and just order a bowl of clam chowder for my dinner. Hopefully this feeling will pass. The clam chowder is very good and a quite large bowl. Michelle opts for the Fried Chicken tonight and claims it to be a winner. Camryn decided to break with tradition and go for the Mickey mac n' cheese. Devon has the pasta and Jordan has the Chicken Fingers. Tonight's feast came to $55.00.

Our server tonight was Cousin Kat. While efficient and pleasant, she did not torment any of her tables that I could find. The next group over from us was however being tortured unmercifully by their cousin. One woman refused to eat her green beans. Not even the old airplane bit would work. He was really giving her a hard time. Later he came back to apologize and said he would like to give them a dessert. He stopped at all the tables along the way to show the concoction that he had made up for her. In an Ice Cream dish he had put green beans, a big blob of Whipped Cream, covered with sprinkles. A Green Bean Sundae!! You should have seen her face when he sat that in front of her. The whole place was rolling. They were great sports and all had their pictures taken with him.

After dinner I told the group to do E-night without me as I still was not feeling well. I will take Sugar Booger back to the hotel, pop a couple Pepto Bismol's and call it a night. Michelle and the boys head off to ride RNRR and TOT before heading to the Magic Kingdom while Camryn and I take the boat back to the Dolphin.

When they returned from E-Ride Night, Michelle tells me it was much like earlier in the week. They rode all of their favorites time after time. No wait and no lines. I was actually quite surprised that there was as few people as there was for these nights during the summer.

Time to catch some more sleep and hopefully feel better tomorrow…..

That green bean sundae is too funny! Sorry to hear that you were sick, hope things get better.

it for three days.....and I mean yuck.......I too love Test Track.....being stuck on it though gave me a new meaning of HELP......I was scared to death .......

Too funny about the green bean sundae! Glad the kids are feeling better - I hope you did too!

I am so happy that you have been having so much luck with e-ride nights. You have now convinced me to give them another shot. In June, on the night we did e-ride, it was PACKED. At least 15 minute waits on every ride until the last half hour. I was so disappointed. I am enjoying your reports. Off to the next one!

Sorry to hear that you were getting sick...that is no fun!! I love your reports...thanks for posting!! :)

You guys must be having too much fun, you're making yourselves sick;) That must be the worst to be sick at WDW:(

Terrific posts! Glad to hear your boys got better quick, now on to the next installment to see how well you fared!

These are great! The green bean sundae was too funny! Can't wait to read the next ones!
