Day 8 was very depressing for us. We had a 6:30 PM flight back to Philadelphia and we were not ready to go home. We were determined to make the best of it and woke up early once again to get to Epcot for early entry. The walk from our Beach Club villa to Epcot was a bit shorter than we were used to from Boardwalk, which was a welcome change. We were determined to get on Spaceship Earth and Test Track before check out time. We succeeded in both regards and Spaceship Earth was very emotional. I got a tear in my eye thinking this would be the last time we would be riding it for a long time. Test Track was a lot of fun once again. I actually wish the outdoor track portion was a bit longer, but I always want more of a good thing. We browsed through the store one last time and made the slow walk back to the Beach Club. It was like saying good bye to an old friend and knowing you are not going to see them for a long time. Check out was a breeze; another thing I like about Beach Club is that you can park relatively close to your room. We wheeled our luggage out and we were off. It was extremely sad leaving the place we had called home for over a week. We went to Steak N Shake for lunch, which added small smiles to our faces. We decided we were going to see what else the area had to offer and headed for Pointe Orlando on International Drive. It was pretty empty here and neither of us was in the mood to shop in stores we had in our local malls. We did browse through FAO Shwartz and I got some cool pictures in the Star Wars area. This is another toy store not to be missed for young and old alike. We left the store and it started to drizzle, how much more depressing can this get. Well, I came up with the idea of going back to Disney and Kristen jumped at it. We were going to head for Animal Kingdom since we did not get to go on Dinosaur this trip. We both had smiles again on our faces as we headed back though the purple gates adorned with Mickey. All these people were parking all the way in the back of the lot even though a bunch of spots up front were now vacant. I cheated and ended up going down a couple of one ways and almost getting killed, but we did not have to take the dreaded parking lot tram. We went right to Dinosaur and to our surprise there was only a 5-minute stand-by wait. I am really glad we came back because this ride is so much fun. We ended up getting off and getting right back in line. The second ride was just as good as the first and we headed over to Primeval Whirl for another spin through time. Now that our heads were spinning, we walked over to the Safari where we were not expecting much. Again to our utter delight, there was no wait. I think this was the first time I ever stood in the stand by line for this attraction and enjoyed walking through the little makeshift hut. I have always ridden this in the morning where there was a good deal of animals out, but this time I was not expecting much because it was the middle of the afternoon. Boy was I wrong; there were animals everywhere. We even got to see the lions up and about, roaring and everything. It was amazing. I think the reason we got so lucky was that it looked like it was going to rain any second. It really looked bad once we exited. It was time to get out of here before the skies opened up. Unfortunately the parade had started, so it was a real challenge following the little escape route that is set up. We made it to the car just as the sky went black and rain came down in buckets. The ride to the airport was interesting with the rain, of course I missed the exit, but it all turned out ok. That is it, our trip was our best ever and we are already counting down the days till we set sail on the Disney Wonder in January for a 3 night voyage.
