Busch Gardens & onto Port Orleans!!

We woke at 7am for our last morning in St Pete’s :( we had a tub of melon and some Oreo cookies left in the fridge so we shared these for brekkie. Enz grabbed a couple of cappuccinos from the Starbucks in the lobby on his way back from taking a couple of cases to the car.

We checked out at 9.30 after knocking the bill down from $80 to $36!! Tradewinds have a daily charge for an ‘Extra Value Pass’ so you get use of cabanas, pedalboats, faxes & other stuff included. The E V P was included with our Virgin Package so we had to wait to have this deducted – there was a problem with the computer – yeah right!

Another first for us this holiday was Busch Gardens – included with our Discovery Cove passes.

It was raining this morning so we donned our waterproofs. By the time we arrived at the lockers the rain had stopped.

We all went on Gwazi – and all found it rather fierce. Gabs & I normally love coasters – maybe we’ve been spoilt by gentler ones at Disney?

Congo River Rapids – on these rides there’s always one seat that gets all the water – I was sitting in that seat. I’m convinced it’s ALWAYS me in the wet seat – let’s see what happens on Kali River Rapids and Animal Kingdom!

Tidal Wave – go on, just try to stay dry :earboy2:

Top tip for the ladies – DO NOT WEAR a t-shirt that becomes see through when wet. If this is unavoidable at least make sure your bra is not lacy and see through

We had lunch at ‘Desert Grill’ – it was really hard to find something without meat for Gabs (she eats fish but not meat). I had a turkey/cheese sub and asked the server for a cheese only sub – they were all made to order – now the cheese sub isn’t on the menu & the server looked annoyed that I’d asked for this! We came here for lunch because the park map’s description had ‘vegetarian options available’ on it! Enz had pasta and chicken. Gianni had hot dog & fries.

We did the SkyWay ride back to the entrance & decided we were all pooped - I also think we all were desperate to get to Disney but none of us wanted to admit it lol! Nobody wanted to do more coasters now that lunch was still making it’s way down!

Left Busch at around 330 to make our way to our 1st ever Disney property hotel – Port Orleans Riverside wooo hooo!!!!!

Wow, what a beautiful resort! I was worried that the room would be small but it’s bigger than I expected. It looks like we have on of the renovated rooms - #9588 Parterre Place on the ground floor. Might not seem it on the map but it’s a short walk to the bus, the food court area, where we parked our car & one of the ‘smaller’ pools which was a fab size! I thought it was in a perfect spot :teeth:

After check-in, which was very swift, friendly & efficient – we emptied the suitcases again! Somehow Enz is short of t-shirts, Gianni of socks & underpants and I only packed one pair of pj’s each for the kids (3 pairs for me though – well there have to be some privileges for the packer :) ). I prepared a bag of stuff to do laundry but was convinced by Enz (it didn’t take that much ;) ) to use the valet laundry – felt very posh and at the price, thank God I didn’t manage to spend anything on my shopping ‘sprees’!!

We took a bus to Downtown Disney, had dinner at McD’s because none of us wanted a big meal, had a mosey round the Disney Store and made our way back to the resort.

I must admit, I found some of the coasters at Busch Gardens a bit 'rough'. Didn't do the water rides there - wasn't quite brave enough :)

Enjoyed reading your report ~ Thanx for posting.

I'm always in the wet seat! At least on Bilgerat Barges EVERYONE gets wet

Oh. I remember that Tidal Wave! Wet isn't the word!!!! ;)

Thanks for another great report.

I hated Gwazi, felt like I had shaken head syndrome when I got off. Everyone felt the same, won't be doing this one again ever.
