Day 6 Wednesday 7/11/01 Where is Pumba?

Cast of Characters:

Me - Now referred to as Spanky thanks to Cousin Dave at 50's Prime Time. 3rd trip.
Michelle - My lovely wife who has had to endure all the changes that I've thrown at her concerning this trip. Is now starting to understand my Disney obsession. 6th trip.
Devon - An eating machine. Just turned 15 but still my baby. 3rd trip.
Jordan - Loves to have things his way. Just turned 12. 3rd trip.
Camryn - A true princess. 3 almost 4 going on 25. Now also referred to as Sugar Booger. Also thanks to Cousin Dave. Willing to try anything once. 1st trip. She is so excited.

Here is the next big hint. If you are trying to track down a particular character for an autograph or picture there is a well kept secret. Ask a CM to call the Chip Hotline and find out where the character that you are looking for is that day. It is generally easier to ask a CM in a gift shop where they have a phone available though. Most are more than happy to help out.

Today we slept in. No fire alarms, no evacuations, just a good nights sleep. By mid morning though we are all dressed and on our way to the Animal Kingdom. First stop. Dinosaur. The boys and I head back to get a Fastpass while Michelle and Camryn wait for a picture with Tigger. With Fastpasses securely in hand we head for the Tree of Life and It's Tough to be a Bug. I love this show. All the kids thought it was a hoot. Even Camryn. She was not fazed at all by the attacking bugs. Back to Dinosaur for our Fastpass. Right to the front of the line. Boy do I love this invention. Sugar Booger is insisting on riding. I forgot how intense this ride is. When the T-Rex roars in your face it even scared the heck out of me. Camryn did not like this one and I don't blame her. It was scary. One more ride for the list.

The kids are now starving as we skipped breakfast. Off to Restaurantosaurus for some lunch. Jordan and I get cheeseburgers. Michelle gets the chicken sandwich, Devon has the big order of McNuggetts (10 Nuggets) and Camryn has the kids meal. Food was o.k. Nothing spectacular but not bad either. Total came to $33.44. Kind of expensive for a glorified McDonalds. I'll take Pecos Bill's any day over this one.

We head back through Asia and grab Fastpasses for Kali River Rapids. And then head out for Africa to grab a Safari. Standby line says only a 10 minute wait so we hop in line. They lied to us. Forty minutes later we are getting on the truck. Saw a lot of animals and took a lot of pictures. Everyone enjoyed the ride. We still had some time to kill so we headed to Rafiki's and took the train ride. Petted some goats and headed back to ride the raging river.

After hopping in the boat I quickly take off my shoes and socks and stash them in the middle water tight container. I brought a kitchen trash bag along and put the camcorder and camera in it and also shoved it in the middle container. Don't want to be sloshing around in wet shoes again today. It's a great ride but far too short. Didn't seem like we hardly got started and then it was over. After we get off we notice that as you cross the bridge there are a couple of buttons. These buttons control the elephants spraying water on the boats as they pass. This was our favorite part of the whole ride. Wait for an unsuspecting boat to come along and then spray them with water from the elephants trunk. They never saw it coming. After a good fifteen minutes we were on our way. Time to head to the Lion King Show.

We quickly worked our way across the park and were seated in the Giraffe section. Soon the show started and then my daughter's favorite character made his appearance. Pumba Pumba Pumba. She was in heaven. This is a great show. All of us enjoyed it, even the older boys. After the show it was time to grab a couple of snow cones and make our way back to the hotel for some rest and relaxation. A little swimming, a change of clothes and everyone felt better.

We headed back downtown to grab some dinner and head to Disney Quest. We got off at Marketplace and headed to Wolfgang Puck Express. I had the Barbecue Chicken Pizza, Michelle the Lasagna, Camryn had the Mac and Cheese, and Devon and Jordan each had a Pepperoni Pizza. My meal was very good and so was the Mac and Cheese. Everybody else just thought that theirs was o.k.. Grand total of $54.11.

We made our way leisurely through Marketplace. Cut through Pleasure Island. Stopped to listen to a band play for a little while, and then entered the West Side. Strolled around awhile and checked out the House of Blues. We will definitely have to come back here and eat sometime.

On to Disney Quest. We have never been here before. Some of the stuff was a lot of fun and some was just o.k. I was tired so that kind of distorted my opinion also. It was very crowded and there were long lines for everything. I did really enjoy the Virtual Aladdin ride though. We drug the kids out of there and headed back to the hotel ready for a good nights rest.

Your daughter sounds like a trooper. Dinosaur is pretty intense! (Although I love it!)
