The One with Dinner in the Castle

The crew:
Myself; K-bug; age 25
Funnyman; my fiancé; age 26
Screamer; Jennifer48 here on the disboards; age 25
BurgerGuy; age 33

It’s 8:30am where are you? We are up and on our way back to the wonderful Magic Kingdom. It is Screamer’s turn to perform the Antennae Topping Ceremony since, like me, her favorite park is the Magic Kingdom.
After strolling up Main Street, we stop in front of the castle to have some more Photopass pictures taken. We had done this last night as well: Screamer and I wanted a picture of us with Tinker Bell, and Funnyman and I wanted an anniversary picture in front of the castle. Unfortunately, nobody loved their picture enough to buy it.
The park is closing at 6pm tonight, so we need to make good time around the lands. Adventureland is first. We Fastpass the Jungle Cruise, and hit up the Swiss Family Tree house, Aladdin’s Magic Carpets and Pirates of the Caribbean. Back to the Jungle Cruise where Skipper Patty took us on a fun-filled adventure (or should I say pun-filled) through the jungle. Patty was great. She clearly loves this ride and her job.
We were able to catch the Enchanted Tiki Room, a first for all four of us, before heading to Frontierland. This was welcomed with open arms since it is air conditioned and it had gotten quite muggy today. We picked up Fastpasses for Big Thunder Mountain since its wait time was longer than Splash Mountain, and could not ignore the hunger pains any longer. Lunch at Pecos Bill’s was good, and again the air conditioning was welcomed. Our fastpasses for Big Thunder Mountain were now good to use, but Splash Mountain had an unreasonable wait of 50 minutes. So we Fastpasses Splash, rode Big Thunder, and then managed another first: Tom Sawyer’s Island. The poor cast member who was running the only raft over to the island was melting away. His badge said “Earning my ears” on it, so he must have been training. I wanted to pat him on the back and say “Hang in there”, but I was afraid of getting his sweat on me, and having nothing to wipe it off with. Sorry, buddy. I hope that he ears his ears soon!
While on Tom Sawyer’s Island we came up with the wacky idea of everyone making a ridiculous face for the photo on Splash Mountain (the heat must be getting to us!). So off to Splash, where we Zip-A-Dee-Do-Dah along with Briar Rabbit. Then, the plunge. Oh, this is a photo to remember! Words cannot describe and I can’t even begin to explain the faces we were making. We purchased the photo, of course. I hope the family in the back of our boat was not planning on buying the photo. Either that or they have a lovely picture of us acting like morons to show all of their friends.
We stopped quickly at the Haunted Mansion, where ghosts stopped the ride several times. On the way our, a Cast Member walks up to Screamer and I (we were standing there staring at the ground looking for the ring) and starts talking to us about the ride. Then he asks if we have seen the ghostly driver of the horse drawn hearse our front. Screamer and I follow him-we are curious to see what he is talking about. He brings us over . . . and slyly says “Sometimes you can’t see him in such bright daylight. But he always comes out in pictures.” Boy, are we thick! We totally fell for it. So we give him our photopass, and he takes a picture with the ghost. This photo actually came out really nice and I am still considering buying it online.
Up next is Fantasyland, where we tackled Mickey’s Philaharmagic (a group favorite) and It’s a Small World. It is now nearly 3:00pm, and we have 5:40pm dinner reservations at Cinderella’s Royal Table. I reluctantly walk away from the Carousel (a must do for me at any park, especially this one), knowing that we will likely have plenty of time to do it just before dinner (I will make time if I have to!). We do have all of Tomorrowland still to do, which has a lot of rides that we all enjoy. Space Mountain was a walk on, so we hit that up first. Next it’s a great big beautiful tomorrow at the Carousel of Progress, followed by Buzz Light-year. We got stuck in Buzz for a good 3 minutes, so I found myself a target and kept shooting and shooting. I managed myself the highest score, although not by much, and I don’t feel like I deserved it.
Next was the Tomorrowland Transit Authority followed by Screamer and BurgerGuy trying out the new Stitch ride. Funnyman and I did this back in December, and were not big fans, so we sat it out.
This gave us about 40 minutes until we had to check in for dinner. So back to the Carousel we went. It was a lovely whirl around with Cindy. I knew that BurgerGuy had mentioned before we left, that he would love to ride the train, so we hopped on in Mickey’s Toon Town. Screamer, Funnyman and I have never been, so it was a nice ride around the park. There were hoards of people in costumes poring into the park for Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party that night. We made it back just in time to make a beeline to the castle to check in.
Cinderella’s Royal Table was excellent! We intentionally picked the last seating that night, so that we wouldn’t feel rushed through dinner, since the park was technically closed to us. The lobby is adorable, and the dining room is much smaller than I would have expected. No wonder the Princess breakfast is so hard to get a reservation for.
Our server was great. Her name eludes me right now. Marin or something like that. We had delicious pretzel bread and butter. Screamer got the chicken dish. Funnyman, BurgerGuy and I all got the prime rib. Screamer and I both had some Bibbity Bobbity Brew (how could we not!), which came with a souvenir mug. Everything was delicious. We were stuffed to the brim, but Funnyman and I still managed to cram a piece of Chocolate Fairytale cake in our bellies. It was heavenly.
We headed out of the castle to see Halloween party revelers everywhere we looked. The costumes were fantastic, as was the park theming for the party, and everyone seemed to be having the time of their lives. Our plan was to make our way very slowly out of the park, while enjoying the Halloween atmosphere. We decided we would make a quick stop back in Toon Town to see Mickey and Minnie’s houses, since BurgerGuy had never walked through. They were all decorated for Halloween, and Mickey was hanging out behind his house with all the party goers.
We started to make our way toward Main Street but ran into a bit of a problem: The Halloween Parade. Since we were stranded, we just stood there and enjoyed the addictive song they sing along with it. (Boo to you! BOO! Happy Halloween! -It is still stuck in my head.) I loved seeing all the villains.
We finally made our way toward the front, and after making some purchases and checking our Photopass pictures we headed out of the park. We head up to the monorail, there is only one other family waiting and this is when disboards brilliance hits me! (Thank you disboards!)
I walk up to Screamer and whisper in her ear “Look! There is no one around! We should ask if we can ride up front with the driver!!” She looks at me knowingly and walks up to the nearest Cast Member to ask. “Your going to like this.” I say to Funnyman. Next thing we know, we are sitting up front with our monorail driver Sam, and on our way back to the parking lot. Sam asks us if it is our first time up here. We tell him yes, and he replies with “Mine, too. Let’s go.” What a fun experience. It is a totally different view of the monorail up there.
It was just about time for Hallowishes, so we watched them from the benches near the boat dock, before riding the tram alone back to our car. Back at the hotel we had to do a slideshow to catch up on the last couple of days of pictures before turning in for the night.

I think we have been twenty times to Disney and I have yet to sit up front in the monorail.......but I am going to ask I can guarantee .........thanks so much for your report......I am getting antzy again to go back
