Today was Thursday, our last day (sob!). I was completely done with my conference, so we had the whole day to play! We got up super early so we could do EE at Magic Kingdom. It had rained the day before, so it was really chilly today! We had our jackets on and everything! We rode all our favorites at Fantasyland and when we rode Dumbo, the CM made an announcement that it looked like inclement weather was headed our way, and they may have to close the ride at any time! The sky was really black! We rode the ride and got off ok, and it ended up not raining at all! It was weird! We did Pooh and Peter Pan, then headed to Tomorrowland. I wanted to do Alien Encounter which was an absolute hoot! (While I did that, DH took the kids on TTA which they love!) I had read some reports of parents taking small children on Alien and the children being carried out of there screaming with terror. I didn't see that and the kids I saw on the attraction all liked it. So go figure. I thought it was a cool attraction and I wanted DH to ride it, but we didn't have time. We had a PS at Chef Mickey's at 10:15.
We hopped on the monorail and went to the Contemporary and THAT'S where I found the pressed penny machine that shows Mickey as a fireman!! It was on my scavenger hunt that a friend of mine had given me! I was so baffled by that one, b/c I realized there are literally HUNDREDS of those machines around and they all have different characters! I saw the machine and thought, what the heck, I'll check it out and sure enough, it was my old buddy Mickey the fireman! I said "Wooo hooo!!! I found it, I found it!!" And then had to explain to my DD7 about the scavenger hunt. Then she asked me what I would "win" for this...I told her nothing. She acted kind of disappointed and said, "So it was just for fun???" Ummmm, yes.

Chef Mickey's was wild. Very good food, very good character interaction...it does have music, dancing and napkin-twirling going on. Keep this in mind if your child doesn't like loud noises and such. I figured my DS3 would fall in love with Mickey again...he was glad to see him, but this time Minnie held a special place in his heart. She saw him and picked him up! I couldn't believe it! He just rested his little head on her shoulder and she made a motion like she was covering her eyes, she thought DS was going to sleep! We got a couple pics of him doing this, it was so sweet. Our little guy is such a handful, and a terror actually, most of the time, but when it comes to the characters, he completely melts! He was just in heaven! The people at the next table were going "Awwwww!"

I actually bought the pics they took of all of us here (in front of a big Chef Mickey's plate), they were pretty good. We got 2 larger ones and 2 small ones in magnets for $26.

We spent the afternoon at Sea World...we saw the manatees, the sea lion show, the penguins, and we went back to see the dolphin show again. We also rode Journey to Atlantis which is a water ride sort of similar to Splash Mountain. It was fun and since it was *chilly* this day, there wasn't much of a line at all! DH and I took turns riding it. If you go to Sea World, please don't miss the sea lion/otter show! It was so cute! Before the show starts, there is a mime that makes fun of people as they are coming in. Sounds weird, but it was hysterical. When you think about it, when people are in an unfamiliar place and trying to figure out where to go and where to sit, they look pretty clueless! So this guy was like walking behind people and mocking them! He had the whole arena roaring with laughter! He tapped one lady on the shoulder and she looked at her friend, like, "What do you want?" as the friend looked confused and the mime nonchalantly walked away!

We ate dinner at Cape May Cafe which is at the Beach Club resort. They have a seafood buffet, with clams, mussels, fish, shrimp, ribs, corn on the cob, rolls, veggies, salads and desserts. There is a small kiddie section with mac and cheese and hot dogs. I had always heard about how good this restaurant was, but had never eaten there myself. It was excellent. We were seated (we didn't have a PS) after waiting around 10 minutes. Our server came to get our drink orders. I absolutely looooove pina coladas and I hadn't had one all week so I ordered one. They have a blue-green color here instead of the usual white, I guess to look like the ocean. The server then looked at my hubby to see what he wanted to drink and he was looking at the fancy drink menu...he mumbled that my drink looked awfully good, he may get that...he finally looked up at the server and said, "I'm sorry, just a minute" b/c he was taking so long. I thought he may get an exotic beer or something...the server had completely lost hope that my DH would actually place his order in the foreseeable future, so she became distracted by people at another table...the waiting went on and DH FINALLY said, "I'll just have water." The server looked unimpressed and walked off. I, on the other hand, was torn between being mortally embarassed at having such a silly man for a husband, and laughing my butt off. I chose the latter. Anyway, our meal was very very good and we got to use my freebie coupons! The adult buffet was $24.99 and DH's and mine were free! All we had to pay for was the kids' buffet which was like $9.99, plus my exotic drink and DH's water ha ha.

This was our last day and I swear we always go thru PAINS on our last day! We all DID NOT want to leave! DH and I even called the airline and looked into the possibility of changing our trip home to a couple days later and just getting a room at the All Stars. Of course, the airline wanted $100 per passenger to change our flights! We couldn't do that, but I swear, we were all in major depression about leaving. My DD7's eyes would fill up with tears and she would say, "But I don't WANT to go home!!!" Every trip we take (and the last couple trips have been for a week) seem woefully short and we realize we haven't done near as much stuff as we wanted to do! But we know we have been very fortunate to visit DW at all, so we're happy too...but gosh, it's a painful feeling!

It is painful leaving isn't it?

I hope you can manage a longer stay next time.. but it still seems like you did a lot with the time you had.

I agree about Alien Encounter - it is fun.. my DD8 and I had such a laugh in there but it's even more fun when people are screaming lol

Thanx for your trip report - your hubby ordering "water" was a riot too...

>>^..^<<

That mime is fun and dinner at one of my favorite spots - a nice ending to your trip - thanks for posting!

Going home is always the worst part...or perhaps I should say leaving...because WDW feels like it should be home.

I always cry on my last day - and I am 30 years old!!! ;)

Thanks for your reports - I enjoyed each and every one of them!

I agree with your assessment of the Seaworld Otter Show at Seaworld, its very entertaining(I have never understood mimes, but you really have to see this guy to appreciate him) he is hilarious. It's always difficult for us to leave "Orlando" as well. Your trip report was excellent, but how in the world do you maintain such a positive and exuberent attitude? Coffee? Other things? Please tell us because I would pay to know where you get your energy.
Thanks
TJP

Sounds like your family had a good trip. Thanks for sharing your report with us! :D

LOL Blackshirt, was I exuberant? I didn't realize. I did feel a special excitement for this Disney trip since I set out to do things I had never done before! I almost felt like I was going to DW for the first time!

I honestly neglected MK this trip though and I'm going back in June to try to rectify that! My DD7 and I are going on a girls only trip and we'll be staying at WL, where we've never stayed before! I'm psyched about that trip too!

Thanks for your report. We left WDW on April 5th after a 9 day visit and I swear, we had just gotten there!!!

Fortunately, my DH enjoys visiting WDW too so we are hoping to go back again next year.

You're right about the last day .... We went for a "last" ride on the monorail, then the "last" visit to the Poly lounge, then the "last" ride on the bus, etc.

So sad.

Great report. I know how it feels to be the last day. It sounds like you and your family had a great time.
