We are:
me, 39, young at heart, old in body.
DH, 46, always hungry, never tired, blistered.
We decide to hit DLand early entry after checking out of our hotel. We had packed the night almost everything the night before so getting up and dragging DH out of bed was pretty easy. We checked out in less than 5 minutes and stowed the luggage in the very expensive rental car.
DH had decided that even though he was hungry, we would wait to eat until after the park opened to the public. He finally got it!!!
So we head to DL, wait a few minutes and head over to Space Mountain. Again, que is toooo long. We do it twice, after resting for a few minutes in between. While I rest, DH goes to the arcade and plays pinball. We ride in the last seat on our last ride and DH says that was wilder than the front - he says it made him dizzy and nauseous. lol. We head over to Star Tours - no wait. No people. Great ride. Then off to Splash Moutain. I drag DH onto Storybook Land (which he had told me was a "love tunnel" type ride - WRONG!) but a cute ride. I then drag him on to Small world. No wait. I told him when we boarded the boat about horror stories I had heard about people getting stuck in the ride having to listen to the song over and over again. We had a good laugh about that. The theming is wonderful. Lots of things to see. Wonderful ride. After we do Small world, I want to ride the train to New Orleans Square so we can ride Splash before breakfast. We wait and wait and wait for the train. It takes about 20 or so minutes. Apparently the train had stopped because the 450 millionth guest had walked into DLand and they had some kind of celebration. We get over to New Orleans Square and head to Splash. When we get to Splash, I decide to really concentrate on the theming - try to figure out if maybe I just rode Splash so much at WDW that I got the story. Nope, still not as good theming at DL. And uncomfortable logs. I forego sitting with DH in fear of his tickling mood. For some reason, every time I ride Splash I have to go the bathroom - could it be all the water??? lol.
After Splash, DH says lets get to the restaurant before the crowds get there. Good thinking. I wanted to go to Liberty Belle Terrace. I thought we went there. Me and maps don't agree. We ended up at the Plaza Inn. I thought it was Liberty Belle until we left. lol. It was a $17.99 a piece. But it was good food! French toast was a bit dry and they gave me too much, but otherwise the food was good. I didn't see the mickey waffles until we were leaving....=0( Buffet. When we sat down it wasn't very crowded. Piglet was interacting a couple tables away. Tigger and Eeyore and Pooh were on the other side of the restaurant. Piglet came by and gave me a hug. I giggled and told him I was ticklish. He stayed for a while and continued to "tickle" me - he didn't touch me but he got close which just made me giggle like crazy. I am sure the pictures will be hilarious. After Piglet visited, we got visits from all of the rest of the characters. That was wonderful - it's great that they interact with people without kids. We got pictures with all of them. The kids were so funny. There was a little boy who was so excited. DH and I sat there and watched and both of us had tears streaming down our faces. I decided that this must be the greatest job in the world. The kids were all so happy and excited to see the characters. It was great to see.
After our wonderful breakfast, we headed to Adventureland. DH actually found it without the map. I was still lost. lol. We did Indy a couple times, with fast passes we had gotten on our way to breakfast. A woman gave us two of hers also.
After we walk around the shops for a while, DH is hungry (again!!) so we decide to stop at Bengal again. I want to try the Beef skewer and see if I have an allergic reaction to that. No reaction. Veggie stick still kinda flavorless, but lots of good veggies. After we finish our snack, we're back on the train again to head down to Mainstreet for a little shopping.
Once again I was disappointed at the lack of larger sized apparel. When we went to the big store (mercantile? I can't remember the name of it), DH actually asked for me. They had ONE design in 3X. He bought it for me and got me a tinkerbell charm for my charm bracelet. We headed down further on main street because DH was hungry for ice cream. Stopped and got some ice cream and headed back to the hotel to get the car to go to the airport. Thankfully we left early because traffic was horrible. And DH had trouble finding the rental car place. We thought (momentarily) of leaving the car elsewhere, but figured they'd find us. lol. When we drove the car the day before, not only was the "oil change" light on, but the "low coolant" light came on. We didn't do anything about it. I kept telling DH the car would probably break down. Thankfully it didn't and we got back ok.
Our flight home was very uneventful. We had pizza at the airport because DH was hungry again! lol. And we wouldn't get home til 11 pm or so and that was too late to eat. He was ill though, we think from Tony Romas wonderful food. lol.
All in all a great trip - but made me feel my age.
I've got lots of suggestions for improvements.... The best thing about the trip was Soarin - a great innovation.
Thanks for hanging in there and reading my reports. I enjoyed writing them....
