Day 3: Monday, May 2
Day 3 found us at MKand MGM. We had an 8:05am ps at Crystal Palace to celebrate dss 3rd birthday. It was great to be able to stroll right into MK without fighting huge crowds through the turnstiles! We took a nice walk up an almost empty Main Street. I took a few quick snap shots of the Castle, then we headed to Crystal Palace. It took about 10 minutes to be seated, even though we were the 3rd family to check in for that day. Once seated, the characters came around our table right away. Our youngest ds was celebrating his 3rd birthday, and the characters signed a birthday card for him. The character interaction was great, food was tastly, but sadly the service was very slow. We had finished eating and were ready to leave by 8:40am. We asked for the check and cm said shed be right back. Well, 15 minutes later, we were still waiting! I had really wanted some more shots of the castle before the crowds came in, but we ended up not leaving until about 10 minutes after 9am. I tried not to stress too much, since the kids really enjoyed the breakfast.
Once out of CP, we high-tailed it to Buzz, where we rode 3 times back to back with no wait. From there, we went to the speedway cars (cant remember the name) and walked right on. Then we headed to Fantasyland and enjoyed Its a Small World and the Carousel ride. Everything was basically a walk on. Pooh had a small line, maybe 5 minutes, so we rode it. It was great! We did Pirates, Country Bear Jamboree, Aladdins Magic Carpets and Jungle Cruise. By this time, it was almost 12pm. When we got out of Jungle Cruise, the lines were getting longer. When I say long, I only mean maybe 30 minute waits for some rides. I was so surprised how uncrowded it was! The kids were getting tired, so we headed back to the hotel for some rest.
We went to MGM in the evening to see Fantasmic and the Stars and Motorcars parade. When we first got there, it was just a 5 minute wait for the Great Movie Ride, so we got on. From there, we headed to Sci-Fi Dine In for dinner. The kids loved the old movie trailers! The food was better than it was a few years ago, but still nothing amazing.
After dinner, we headed to the Honey I shrunk the movie set to let the kids blow off some energy. They had a great time running around! I forgot how much fun that place is for kids.
We took our spot to watch the Parade about 10 minutes before it started. We stood just down from Star Tours. It was a great spot. Weve never seen this parade before and the kids really enjoyed it! But after sitting in the sun, the kids were pretty tired after the parade. I could see a melt down coming, so we decided not to stay for Fantasmic, and headed back to AKL. Thats when the terrible thing occurred. My autistic son had set his rope (his most priced possession!) on top of the stroller until we got to the car. Well, DH forgot it was there and didnt retrieve it before he put the stroller in the trunk. By the time we got to the hotel, ds was asking for his rope. There was nothing we could do to comfort him! He cried and cried for an hour, then of course I cried too because I couldnt calm him down.
On day 4, ds miraculously found a new rope in our hotel room! Now thats Disney magic! I dont know where it came from, but it was brand new! DS was thrilled and carried that rope everywhere!
Ill update the rest of day 4 later today!
