Saturday found us heading into MGM, for our first ever Star Wars Weekend. I wanted to be there early, just like every one of you would, however, I was nice to DH and let him sleep in a bit. So off we go, armed with ponchos and an umbrella for DH.
We arrive around 11 am, and I grab a park map. Did I really need it? No, but its habit. So I look at the showtimes and see people lining up for a parade. Too early for the afternoon parade so I ask a nice CM who informs me that it is a Star Wars parade. Perfect!! We grab a curb right at the entrance and wait for the parade, which starts at 11:15. It starts to rain, so we get our pochos on and wait for the start. My DS was in his glory!!!
After the parade, I decide to bring DS to the Power Ranger meet and greet. That starts at 11:35, and is on the other side of the park, where the Osbourne Lights are put up. So we head over there, and were unable to find the meet and greet. I take out the map that I picked up from habit and take a look...I am at the right spot but no Power Rangers. I ask a CM who has no idea what I am talking about. I ask another CM who is over by the playground, and he says they only come out if it isn't raining. Did I mention it was drizzling already?? So he has no useful information for me and I was a bit upset. Not so much for me, but for DS who wouldn't understand. So DH takes this opportunity to take a restroom break and leaves me with the camera, which I have no idea how to work. Yes, you guessed it-out come the Power Rangers in their Power Rangers vehicle!! I manage to get a few shots before DH returns and then we stand in line for 2 of the 4 Rangers. I am okay now, and it has stopped raining!
Since this meet and greet is right near the new car show, Lights, Motors, Action, we get FP for the next show and decide to get some lunch. We decide on pizza Planet, just because it was in close proximity. We get there after our stop at Buzz and Jesse for pictures. The food was better than I remember it being from previous trips, and it was now time for our FP return so off we go. I have to say I loved this show!! My family did as well. I think its a great addition to MGM and I hope that they change up the stunts every once in awhile.
We then head toward Star Tours to see what is happening in the plaza. The first thing I noted was that the line for the store was long!! I don't know how to describe it, but long!! I have never seen it like this. It wasn't like that earlier in the day but there was no way I was standing on it to buy anything. So we come across a roped off area where Jedi Training would be taking place in 20 minutes. Only 30 kids are picked for this event, so the odds of my two getting picked out of the hundred kids there were slim and next to none. Well someone must have sprinkled some Pixie Dust on us because both got picked to train to be Paduons (spelling?)!! After the training, you hear that breathing that only means one thing-Darth Vader is in the area! And out he comes!! Half the group will fight him, while the other half will fight Darth Maul. Each child gets their turn, and as they leave the session, they are given a bag with a certificate and a Star Wars toy!! My kids really enjoyed this, and I know that my son, who fought Vader, will remember this for a very long time!!
Pictures with Jedi Mickey came next and then we left. We had PS at HOB and then tickets for Cirque du Soleil.
Our PS at House of Blues was for 4:15, but we got there at 4 and were seated promptly. We had never eaten here and it was quite good. I know that DH had some sort of a steak and I had ribs, which wer falling off the bone!! We will definitely go back and next time we hope to be able to catch a show at the concert hall. I'll check the concert listings to see who will be playing and get tickets-it looks like a good time. After dinner, we headed over to Cirque. Again, we had never saw any of the shows so we were all really excited. It did not disappoint!! We had seats in the second teir and they were very good, but from looking at the place, I don't think there is a bad seat in the house.
After the show we walked around the West End for a bit, in between the rain drizzle that was falling. We headed back to OKW where sleep came rather quickly. Tomorrow would bring us to Epcot.
