Cast of Adventurers

Me: Shelly Disney Nut and wanting to go back to WDW for 12 plus years.
DH: Warren Converted Disney Nut
DS: Brandon, Age 7 Being raised right (a Disney Nut)

We got up painfully early that last morning. One final check around the cabin to see if we missed anything. Nope (we thought). Only later did we realize that my nightgown is still probably having a fabulous time cruising to the Bahamas. But we did have the raisin bran so I suppose it all evened out.

We arrived at breakfast and the servers were still pleasant but the attitude of everyone was, "Thanks for coming, now get off my boat. Please." We ordered the express breakfast because I wanted to take pity on our servers and everyone else. The seemed to have so much to do. We filled out comment cards and gave high marks to our servers, the cabin steward and the kids club counselor that saved our bacon the first night of the cruise and allowed us to get to Palos.

This was our first cruise but departure did seem pretty painless. Unless you count the fact that I wanted to go again! We found our legion of luggage and grabbed a sky cap. (I don't think that was what they are called at cruise terminals, but his title escapes me.) He neatly stacked the pile and off we headed to customs. I think if they check every 5th family, for example, then we were next to have our luggage inspected. But she took one look at that pile and you could tell she did not have the strength. You could see the debate on her face and then she just passed us through. Hooray, my over packing was good for something.

Since we were flying out that afternoon we checked our luggage with Delta at the terminal. We then headed over to Avis to pick up our rental car. This was the one place in our plans that scared me, but it went off without a hitch. We drove back to Orlando and stopped at Dixie Landings to pick up some pralines to take back to my parents. Then we went back to Downtown Disney. We ate lunch at McDonalds and oh was that a slam back into reality after the cruise.

I bought a million dollar bill to give to my boss. It never hurts to tell them what you think they are worth. By this time Brandon was tired but we had run him ragged for eleven days and all of the fight was out of him. We were just killing time until our flight at 5p.

We went back to the airport, dropped off the car and looked ridiculous with all of our luggage. Luckily the flight from Orlando to Cincinnati was on time. No potty breaks for Brandon, the kid acted like he was in a coma. We could hardly get him awake to move from one spot to the other. The flight back to SLC was uneventful as well except we looked like idiots in our shorts. It was 10 at night and getting pretty cold since it was late September.

The girl in the van to get us back to our car was great with our luggage. She had a full van and trying to fit our luggage in was an enormous challenge. We stopped trying to give out small denominations and just started going for big bills. She seemed pleased. By the time we got home we had been up for 23 hours straight. We had a blast.

We weren't too sure about how Brandon, who is adopted, felt about the trip until a few weeks later. I had put up the picture of the three of us with the Disney Wonder in the frame next to us on the bookshelf. I caught him looking at it with a bemused expression on his face. I asked him what he was thinking and he said, "We really are a family aren't we." I couldn't book our next trip fast enough.

Shelly,

I've truly enjoyed reading your trip reports. They're beautifully written! I'm so glad you and your family had such a wonderful trip, despite a few . . . shall we say . . . glitches. :smooth:

Seriously, I loved your reports! Thanks again.

Great reports! I laughed throughout most of it and teared up at the end. Thanks for sharing with us!

Thank you for sharing your wit and wisdom w/us. Children certainly have a way of boiling it down don't they? When are you going again?

I truely enjoyed reading your trip report. I laughed, giggled, nodded my head and cried. My boss is probably wordering why I am staring so intently at my computer screen.

I loved reading all your installments! You really have a talent for writing! Sounds like your trip was really wonderful, even with the ups and downs. We stayed at Dixie Landings our last time and loved it! Isn't Disney just the BEST?!!!!!!!

Everyone,

Thanks for all the nice comments and taking the time to read them!

We're heading back this September for a much slower paced trip. We also will be doing 7 days on the Disney Cruise.

Not quite sure if I will write trip reports again, but if I do they will probably show up this time next year. LOL. I don't seem to be very speedy.

Shelly, thanks for your trip report, I am worn out reading it! We will be crusing on the Wonder in October with our 2 boys then on the WDW. Can't wait!!
Thanks for taking time to post.

Shelly I have enjoyed your reports so much. They were so entertaining. I hope you do post another report after your trip even if it's late it will still be enjoyed by many. Thanks again.;)

What a sweet ending!! I'm glad yall are back home safely. BTW I do know about that slap back into reality!! It hurts doesnt it LOL They pamper you so much on the ship that you never ever want to get off. Thanks for sharing your trip with us. :)

THANKS FOR THIS WONDERFUL REPORT!
I'm not a very constant DIS member but I'll be looking for your September trip report, if you post it!

You write a great report. I laughed, sympathized and cried. Your son's statement said it all. You really are a family. Thanks for sharing.

What a great ending!

I just know your family will love the 7 day cruise. You can take it easy, relax and enjoy. Umm....you're not by any chance going to have a commando week at Disney first, are you? LOL!!

Thanks so much for your reports. I really enjoyed reading them!

First I have to congratulate you on your sense of humor and good nature!! I haven't read ALL your reports but the first 3 and I am enjoying them so much that I just had let you know that! Your reports are very informative and oh sooooo entertaining, I have been printing them and reading them on the bus on my way home (I have an almost 3 hour commute) and your reports are making it so much more pleasureable! Thank you for taking the time to report and I look forward to reading the rest of your reports tonight!! Have a Disney day!!:bounce: :p :bounce: :p :bounce:

Loved you reports - made the mistake of reading them here at work, taking my usual Friday afternoon break. Now I'm crying and everyone is asking me what's wrong.

I think that's what Disney does best - taking parents & kids in this rush-hurry-beat-the-clock world and make them slow down and realize that we are a family, after all.

Best wishes! Thanks for posting your trip reports.

"We really are a family aren't we." Ahhhh! :)

Thanks for the reports. Your humor and sweetness were great to read!

Wonderful reports. I so enjoyed them. I laughed and cried right along with you. Especially about the raison brand, we had a bag of potato chips that did the exact same trip, even the cruise.
