Day 1
Saturday
Travel, Blizzard Beach and Disney Quest

We always fly out of Kansas City because it is so much cheaper than flying from Des Moines (Southwest $90 ea rt). We had a 9:40 flight. The Southwest ticketing agent told me that you no longer needed to be at the airport 2 hours early so we got to the airport around 8:15. Wow! I was amazed at the lines! It took us almost 35 minutes to get our bags checked. We did end up in group B for boarding. When we got to the waiting area there were no seats left so we just stood by where you line up to board. This worked great because we were right at the front of the B line. When we got on the place we were lucky to find 3 seats together as it was a full flight. The flight down was uneventful.

Arrived at MCO and the boys went to get the luggage while I got the rental car. I used dollar with a mousesavers code. I signed up for their Fastlane and when I did that I got a coupon for a free upgrade to a full-size so I ended up getting a Dodge Stratus for $124 for the week. It was a nice car and I was happy with it.

We knew the hotel wouldn’t be ready so we went straight to Blizzard Beach. We got the 4 day park hopper plus tickets from ticketmania so we used our plus option for this. We arrived there around 3 in the afternoon and it was very busy. There were lots of people leaving but it seemed there were just as many arriving. It was still manageable, you just had to wait in line a while.

One thing I found that I will never do again is Summit Plummit. I love thrill rides. I’ve never ridden anything that I wouldn’t do again. This was the exception. I hated that you can’t even see the slide from where you sit at the top. My boys complained that they got wedgies so I consider them lucky. I got an enema! Never again.

Around 7 the boys had done everything they wanted to do so we changed and headed over to DownTown Disney. We paid the $30 for DisneyQuest but were disappointed. These boys live for video games but they were quickly bored here. This was the one thing we wished we hadn’t spent the money on. We walked around DTD for a while and checked out Planet Hollywood then decided to embark on the Adventure of finding our hotel.

I used Mapquest to get directions to my hotel and here is where the problems started. The state has decided to change all of their interchange numbers but Mapquest apparently doesn’t know this. That was the first problem. The second problem was that my hotel was on W. Irlo Bronson Highway. There are no signs on the interstate for W. Irlo Bronson Highway. This is 192. I knew where 192 was but had no idea that 192 was what I was supposed to be looking for. I’m more stubborn than a man when it comes to asking for directions but after 1 ½ hours of driving (I-4 under construction so it was very slow going) I stopped and asked. Finally we got to the hotel. We stayed at the Super-8 Maingate for the first night.

I wasn’t really impressed with this hotel but what can you expect for $39 a night. The boys liked the pool and I was just glad to be able to relax a little after a long day of going non-stop!

One thiing to say, Mapquest stinks! I end up finding my own way everytime.

LOL about Summit Plummit!! I'm too chicken to even think about trying it! :D

didnt' lift your head and get a good knock ....thanks for your report.....and I too dislike mapquest....their map made us go through downtown Boston last year....never ever again...I will figure it out on my own.....thanks again
