Our troop:
2 single ladies: Me and my cousin Aly
2 married ladies: Our other cousin HV and our friend and Alys co-worker KP
1 five-year-old: HVs daughter Cassie aka the kid
..and one pain-in-the-rear husband who keeps calling to fight with his wife and interrupting our vacation well call him Mr. Vegetable
Staying at the Homewood Suites Hotel off 192
Day One MGM
We arrived at the studios around 10 am, driving straight there from our hotel stop in Gainesville. In the car, HV attempts to contact her husband, Mr. Vegetable but he wont answer the phone. So she leaves him another message.
We went straight to ToT well, we had to stop first to buy an autograph book, then KP needed to use the bathroom (she is definitely a candidate for the overactive bladder medication), then we saw a character and had to wait in line to meet him (some king from Robin Hood) ..so it took about 45 minutes to actually get to the ride. The stand-by line was 45 minutes, so we get Fastpasses. Then KP and I head over to the RnR coaster, while the rest of the group tries to find something for the kid to do.
We get off the ride and it is pouring rain. I try calling Aly on her cell to find out where they are. She finally answers, and I learn that I have interrupted the Muppets 3-D show. Aly and I have been Muppet freaks since childhood, so I yell into the phone YOURE WATCHING IT WITHOUT ME?? She apologizes and explains that the kid was getting bored and this was the only thing they could get in to. So we bought some ponchos and head that way to make them watch it twice in a row. But first KP has to use the restroom.
At this point we are all looking quite lovely. Despite the rain, the humidity is around 90 percent. Now being Southern girls, we are used to the humidity but when you have to walk around covered in plastic, it makes your sweat stick to your skin. So youre wet on the outside of the plastic as well as the inside of the plastic. I had to make my first souvenir purchase and get some Mickey socks so I could change and have dry socks. We bought the matching Mickey ponchos. The adults are clear and the kids is yellow. She actually LOVED the poncho. For the rest of the trip, even if it wasnt raining she wanted to wear the poncho. She asked every day before we left the hotel if everyone had their ponchos with them. Then she asked periodically throughout the day if she could put hers on. If a big cloud appeared in the sky she would shout out Now, everybody put on those ponchos!!!
After watching the Muppets, the rain has started to slack up a bit. Me, being the photographer that I am, ask everyone to stand beside that snowman thats outside that Christmas store. Its such a funny picture w/everyone in their ponchos standing with a snowman. People passing by are smiling at our lovely photo opportunity and watching us. Then, in a split second, the kids feet slip right out from beneath her and she slides down. She looked like a banana peel in that yellow poncho. All the crowd gathered around us let out a collective aaawww kind of like the crowd does when an iceskater falls on a jump. Then we had to find a restroom for KP.
Later in the day, we discover what is meant by Jersey Week. At the Indiana Jones Show, they started getting volunteers out of the crowd. So the casting director asked the first person where they were from .

North Carolina Keke lets out a big roar ..unfortunately I was apparently the only other tarheel in the entire park that day. I dont even think the people that came with the girl made any noise. It was SO embarrassing. The casting director looked at me and started laughing.
We watched the parade, rode StarWars (the kid started crying while we were in line and was scared to do it so Aly had to walk backwards through the fastpass line to get her out of there), rode ToT (my first time, it was awesome), waited on KP to use the bathroom, saw the Mermaid show (started off cool but then got kind of cheesy), got some burgers and shakes at Sci-Fi, waited on KP to use the bathroom, and went to stake out seats for Fantasmic. We had seen it before so we decided that rather than fight the crowds to get out of there we would leave early. So as soon as that boat of characters got half way around the lake, we bolted .but we didnt get far b/c (yep, you guessed it) KP had to find a restroom.
Back at the hotel (Homewood Suites in Kissimee, at the first redlight past the park on 192, great place, highly recommend it) we decide to take showers and order pizza. HV has still been unable to contact Mr. Vegetable on the phone so she keeps leaving him messages. Little did we know the headaches that would occur when she finally did get him to answer.
