Cast: Me (Sue)- 32, not grown up yet, travel agent with weird affection for Donald Duck
Dad- Older than me, likes Disney but just likes vacations in general
Mom- Older than me and younger than Dad, dislikes traveling but loves Disney and especially shopping at Disney
My alarm seemed especially loud at 2:45 am. Even my dog gave me an Its not time to get up look. I packed up everything, plus the dog in her blankie and headed over to my parents house. They were ready to go and after saying goodbye to Oreo and Corie (my dog and their dog), we headed off to the airport. At the airport, I suggested trying the upper lot, which is very close to the terminal. There is never any parking in the upper lot but I thought, heck, lets give it a try. Sure enough, one spot just for us. We were being blessed from the start. Check in was painless and the plane took off on time. We arrived at LAX early which was great because we had to transfer from a commuter terminal to the main one by bus. One of the first of many bus rides. Our flight from LAX to Orlando was smooth but a bit uncomfortable. My moms leg was really hurting her and she couldnt get comfortable. Since we were trying out Magical Express, I told the folks to look for someone wearing a Mickey Glove. After a bit of searching we found someone and they gave us directions to the next person who gave us more directions. There was no line for check in and since we had received our luggage tags it was quick and painless. We arrived at 2:45 and were on a bus by 3:15. Caribbean Beach was the first stop and we were at the resort by 4:00. Check in at the Custom House took quite a while especially since he went through the whole check in with me and then again with my parents. Not sure why he couldnt have sped up the process but thats ok. While waiting in line to check in, Wegoshop called and said that they were in the area and would be at our room around 5. A few hours earlier than expected and I had to call them back once we received our room numbers. We were placed in Trinidad South, which was the village I was dreading but I didnt say anything, and decided to see how it was staying in the boonies. It wasnt too bad. We then had to wait for the internal shuttle to take us to our village. It seemed a long wait too, especially since I was concerned about missing our groceries. One thing that is really nice about building 37 in Trinidad South is that it is very close to the bus stop. It seemed to be closer than any of the others. Our rooms were not connecting but that is fine. I actually prefer the privacy. Our luggage did not magically arrive before us but we were prepared for that and not worried at all. In fact, I didnt even think about it. The wonderful people at Wegoshop were right on time and delivered everything we asked for. Since we were on West Coast time, we missed lunch somewhere in the air and headed to the food court. It was a long walk. Not so bad the first day but it would become an issue. Had a good meal at the food court on the dining plan and then shopped a little. I really liked the selection they had. Saw some things I would need to come back for and things I had to have right then. After walking back to the room, we found our luggage had arrived. It was quicker than expected which was great. Dad and I then decided to head for the Magic Kingdom and start our vacation. Mom needed to rest her leg plus someone had to watch American Idol for me! We had to stand on the bus even though it was 7:30 at night. It was an EMH night so it was still busy. We got wristbands even though we didnt use them. My dad insisted on doing things that my mom wouldnt want to do. He also wanted me to go on Space Mountain since neither of them will go on that. I got frustrated and told him that we were going on the People Mover. I know it isnt a typical first ride but I just needed time to regroup and tell him what I thought we should do. I was really bummed about not enjoying the first moments in the park. He was in rush mode and all I could do was say Wow, the castle is so beautiful. .. as I followed him to Tomorrowland. We enjoyed the ride and while on that ride found out that Space Mountain was actually closed. It was pretty cool seeing it all lit up. What a jumbled mess! Yes, they still do page Mr. Morrow, Mr. Tom Morrow. They even do that in Star Tours but that is for another day. We decided to go on Stitch since I am a big fan of the little guy. I actually enjoyed the attraction. I thought it was pretty cute. Definitely better than the scary alien from before. We then headed over to Frontierland for BTMRR. It was a short line and it was fast! My dad has vertigo so he is very sensitive to motion. He had been on it before but this time he didnt do so well with it. He had to sit for a little while afterward. We were heading back when Wishes started and we watched it from Frontierland. It was great. We couldnt see the castle but it was still beautiful and powerful. I really enjoyed it but wished I could have seen Tink fly. Our big mistake was to head out with everyone else to the busses. We had to wait for a few busses before we were able to get on one. We did get to see the electrical water parade, which was cute. Finally back to the CBR so that we could get a good nights sleep and be all ready for our first full day.
