I've never actually been to the Animal Kingdom in the afternoon so I've always rushed right past the Dawa Bar, but it looks like a cool place to get a drink. So 3 questions:

1) Can anyone tell me if the Dawa Bar is open year round, or is it seasonal?

2) Is it okay to get food from a stand and eat it at the bar? I don't believe they serve food, just drinks, right?

3) Anyone have a drink menu they can post, or tell me about specialty drinks?

thanks!

We have been there in Sept. Oct. Feb. and March and they were always open. You are welcome to bring food in anytime and watch the show next door.

We love that place. As far as I can tell, it's open all year and I know you can bring in food. Before Tusker House was a buffet we'd get lunch and eat it in the bar area. Sorry, we only get Safari Amber so I can't help much with the drinks.

Have fun!

:)

1) Open year round.

2) They do not serve food but you can carry whatever you want there with you. It is not indoors.

3) Yes, there are specialty beverages, I don't have a list but most of them contain a bunch of rum and fruit juices. Because it's an outdoor bar, all drinks are served in plastic cups. They don't accept Tables in Wonderland.

We love the Dawa Bar. It is a pleasant place to stop and rest for awhile.
We too usually get just the Safari Amber, so I am not sure of the speciality drinks, although I know I have seen a menu
Good Luck

DH loves this place and we try and go there at least once per trip.
I don't have a list of drinks either but its a full bar so they can make just about anything. Keep in mind the prices are comparable to ANY bar in Disney.
I paid $7 for a pina colada and it was just a frozen slushie out of a machine. I think a beer was around $6.
We usually grab some popcorn across the street and bring it over to eat with our drinks.
Great people watching area!

thanks for the info everyone. There is nothing better to me than an open air bar, it is just so relaxing to me! :)

We love the Dawa bar. In October, they had 3 specialty drinks written on the board, all with rum and various tropical juices. They were not the same drinks that were offered the last time I'd been there so perhaps they rotate them?

I'd guess that 75% of the people sitting there had no drinks or food; they were just tired of walking. We had to wait quite a while to get a table. This was the first time we'd experienced this; usually there's plenty of room.

Thanks for the post and thread. A few years ago, I read on these boards that it was someone's favorite place to get a drink. So, I noted that for our next trip, and our next trip, and our next trip. I still haven't had a drink there, even though I've tried every time since then. One time we just didn't feel like a drink, another time we ran out of time, and the last time, a rain storm came up and the place was packed with people hanging out until it passed. So, maybe in March...

I always make it a point to stop here.

Some of the specialty drinks are "Lost on the Safari", "Harambe Cooler", "African Margarita", and "Dawa Colada". All but the Margarita are rum type drinks.

I believe my drink of choice at the Dawa is sangria. DH and I make a point to sit and relax there every trip.

Dawa Bar is one of our favourite hang-out spots at WDW. We often decide to go for a drink and a rest and end up still there hours later, watching the parade. However the speciality drinks the last couple of years have been disappointing. I love rum in all shapes and forms, but the Dawa cocktails have been strangely lacking and we have 'made do' with the super tasty safari amber.

#3 all you need to know is: Margarita!!! Several of them! If you get one of the kids animal head bottles you can fit two drinks in there and take it on Safari with you......
