Join Steve and Ryno for drinks at Dawa Bar. Then watch and see how their dining experience went at Tusker House Restaurant located inside Disney's Animal Kingdom Park. See what the two thought of the food and character dining experience. Did Steve enjoy something outside of his normal flavor palette? You'll have to watch and find out! Have you been to Tusker House Restaurant before? What was your experience like? What is your favorite Disney character dining experience?

Thought it was a really good & helpful review. I've never been to Tusker House because I love Boma & believed that the selection was greater & more diverse there. I'm also not really into character dining.

Wonder if the Team would be interested in doing an updated Boma dinner review? Would be great to compare & contrast with this recent TH lunch review. Is Boma really better? Is it worth leaving the park & busing it to nearby AKL to get similar food? Would viewing the animals behind the resort & checking out the gorgeous lobby make the trip out of the park worthwhile? Curious what their conclusion would be now & whether the dining pkg for Rivers of Light would tip the scale?

The review was great and will definitely be going there for Lunch on my next trip.

We went to Tusker's house for breakfast, last trip, and I got Curry for Breakfast, Curry!!

The only time I do that is when I have a left over takeaway from a night out (Don't judge lol) But to have curry in restaurant setting rather than in my PJs and duvet of hungoverness, was great.

Also the characters were super fun - found my son had a bit of a crush on Daisy, which was so sweet.

Lastly they give you this juice in there can't remember what it's called (I'm sure someone on here will know) super yummy.

The juice their is Jungle Juice and is a mixture of Orange, Guava, and Passion Fruit juices

Tusker House is our favorite character meal - we usually do breakfast. Very good food and good variety (good mix of standard and more exotic options so I think everyone can find something)

Side note as I know they covered the Dawa Bar as well. If you are into mixed drinks I found I liked the ones at the Thirsty River Bar & Snacks (over by Expedition Everest) better

Thanks for the info on the juice, I would say I can get all that and make it myself; although considering how lazy I can be, I'll probably just wait till my next trip to have it lol

OMG that bar is so good went there on my last trip as well, As well a Dawa where I had a Tusker's Larger (had to order it as last time I had it was when I was in Nairobi),

There where some Lovely New Jersey-ians in front of me in the queue and they order a special off menu cocktail.

It looked so nice I made them order me one as well, not 100% of the name but it had a lots of gin in it so I was happy

Just really wished I remembered the name; but with the beer, the cocktail and it being a hot day it's a wonder I manage to coordinate myself back to the hotel lol..

I have a colleague who is from South Africa and he knows I am into beer so last time he was there he brought back a beer for me - and it was a Tusker Lager. Really appreciated the sentiment so didn't have the heart to tell him I just had one of those the prior month when I was at Disney ;)

I'll have to remember about the off-menu cocktail for next time. My wife especially is a big fan of gin based drinks

Side note - if you like beer and are in Animal Kingdom I recommend the Kungaloosh Spiced Excursion Ale they have at the Nomad Lounge ... super tasty and different! Definitely felt like a "vacation beer"

Dang - thought you were describing ME to a TEE, until I realized I wasn't in Disney then, and oh - I don't drink anymore either. But otherwise, it was ME!!! :lmao:

Well all I know is they were a bad influence on me (not that it takes much) and that cocktail was super strong - they were proper hard core as they went back for seconds lol!! If all New Jersey peep are like that if I ever visit will need to take some strong hangover cures.

Will definitely give that a try as at least with beer, you can sort work out how much proof it is, unlike the Disney free pour cocktails, I think some CMs are more about the party than the profits lol

I know I've seen the same juice called Jambo (at Boma), and POG (due to the ingredients) by others at various locations.

MMMMmmmm curry....I've never thought of having it for breakfast, but I do enjoy a good curry. And putting curry in other things as well. :)

I think I'd have to say the same as far as the buffets go. It was definitely unique, and we like unique!

I'm thinking I must try curry. I'm thinking that if I've had it in the past, I don't remember it, and I've had the thought "hot" when I hear it, but I've been hearing for a long time that does't have to be so. So, thinking another try is in order. I also DEFINITELY want to try butter chicken, since everybody seems to LOVE that, and it LOOKS delicious!!

We started getting spices from a place called Penzey's - spice store, and generally mail order, but will have stores cropped up if they get enough business. Because they had such a staggering array (different kinds of oregano, basil, etc, etc), we were able to get a couple of different kinds of curry, and got sweet curry. That's the one we use the most. It gives a lot of flavor, and doesn't necessarily have a kick. But there's a difference between merely putting curry in a dish and having a curry, I think. Just based on how I've heard it described. Obviously, @k8Davies and others would know more! I just consume....

Great review guys! I haven't been to Tusker House in years, not since it went character and the price jumped. Killed me to pay that much for a plateful of mac and cheese. It always felt like Boma "light" so I'd appreciate another look at Boma.

I am thinking of doing the ROL package here instead of Tiffin's. More choices for the family so the timing of the review was great.

Dawa bar is great. It was one of the first places that the DH and I stopped while the kids went off by themselves, when Mommy started to need a time out in the afternoon. We still stop there every trip if we have the time.
