OK - when ever I am in MK, I ALWAYS seem to hear the "Bang goes old Betsy" song over and over. Course, there's never any words, just the music and since I'm not old enough to have watched the show, those are the only words I know.

I've tried searching on the internet and posting on the community board, but can't find answers. Can anyone help me with the rest of the words to that song? Then I can sing the WHOLE thing and not just "da da da da BANG goes old Betsy da da da da da da da".

Thanks,

Bang Goes Old Betsy
Lyric from the Davy Crockett Television show song
Gil George and George Burns

Chorus
Bang goes old Betsy
My only gun is Betsy
I can travel far and wide
With Betsy by my side

The only time I draw my gun
Believe me it is not in fun
I shot it fer for defending me
I shot fer life and liberty

Chorus

One day I went away from town
I aim to grin a wild cat down
The beast and I began to stare
It was a growling grizzly bear

Chorus

I was gett’n whittling sticks
I got myself into a fix
The snow was frozen on the ground
A pack of hungry wolves came ‘round

Chorus

When I was ride’n through the woods
To trade off skins for bought’n goods
Forty arrows in a tree
I knew the Sioux were out for me

Chorus

The only time I draw my gun
Believe me it is not in fun
I shot it fer for defending me
I shot fer life and liberty

1) The words seem right, disneyfrank.
2) But, were is your twangy accent? :)

I had a Little Golden Record with "The Ballad of Davy Crockett" on Side 1 and a different version of "Bang Goes Old Betsy" on Side 2. From memory:

The chorus had:
"My one and only Betsy" ... instead of "My only gun is Betsy."

I don't remember the lyrics shown above, but there was another verse:

As I was ... ??
A trout (?) as long as a wagon train
Began to pull me out to sea;
A good idea occurred to me.

Ah, correction:

Side 1 was "Be Sure You're Right (Then Go Ahead)," not "The Ballad of Davy Crockett."

Lyrics included:

Chorus:
Be sure you're right, then go ahead!
Be sure you're right, then go ahead!
It's up to you to do what Davy Crockett said!
It's up to you to do what Davy Crockett said!
