DaVinci Code.... here is the trailer.

We'll see...

He looks pretty young in the trailer. I can't remember; how old is Robert Langdon supposed to be?

I was thinking late 30's, early 40s, but I don't remember for sure.

In the books, Langdon was supposed to be in his 50s, I believe, but his age really doesn't have that much bearing on the story, so I could see them casting him anywhere from mid-30s to well into his 60s, and it would still be fine. Actually, I think I remember feeling that it seemed a little strange that Langdon was supposed to be in his 50s, when reading the books, that he really needed to be younger to fit better with some aspects of the action.

I was skeptical, too, when I heard Tom Hanks was going to play Langdon, but after viewing the trailer, I think it might work. He is a great actor. I read both Angels and Demons and Da Vinci Code, and didn't really picture Langdon as an Indiana Jones type, but more of a regular guy doing what he has to do. I think Hanks might work. The settings alone would make this movie worthwhile ... the Louvre, English Castles, Paris ... Yay!

I agree on the set locations, that alone will be worth watching!

Tom Hanks IS a great actor, very versatile. I think he'll be able to pull it off!

My main question is whether or not they'll decide to make Angels and Demons afterwards. Personally, I believe it is a better story, and so would be a great sequel -- one that could readily exceed the original.

I'll bet it depends on the success of the Da Vinci Code. A&D was a better story, I think, but I did enjoy DVC. I think the movie will be good with both Tom Hanks and Ron Howard involved. And, I love the actress who plays Sophie. This movie could be her big international break.

I loved both books. I seem to recall that Dan Brown described Langdon as a "Harrison Ford" type...or something like that? Why didn't they cast Harrison Ford? I think he would have been wonderful...but then again I always did have a thing for Han Solo. ;)

But Tom Hanks is wonderful too....

I think Harrison Ford is getting too old to play Harrison Ford. :teeth:

While I think Tom Hanks is a fabulous actor, I had hoped to see someone
"hotter" cast in this role.

Would have been great if they gave Jean Reno the lead instead of a supporting role.

Tom Hanks is always good IMO, plus he has worked with Ron Howard before.

:rotfl:

IMDB lists him as 63. <sigh> He'll always be 35 in my eyes...
