I just picked up my wedding gown from David's Bridal today. I had my final fitting and its all ready for my June 10th wedding. I actually was very late at picking out my dress. I didn't buy it until April! I just have to say, they were a dream to work with. Not only did they find me a BEAUTIFUL, yet affordable gown, but made it ready in time! No pressure at all... they altered the entire thing... took it in, shortened it, and bustle. EVERYTHING was absolutely PERFECT the first time!!! They knew my wedding date and made it happen for me! Not only that but i got to know a lot of their other customers, and some had only picked out their wedding gown weeks in advance, and david's worked it out for them! I just wanted to put the word out there, if your on a budget like i was... you can still have a gorgeous gown and great service... even if you do it last minute like i did. I adore my gown and it was sooo affordable.. but everyone i showed thought it cost so much more. I recommend david's to anyone and everyone looking for wonderful service and a beautiful gown!

that is wonderful! I'm gald you had such a great experiance with Davids!
I order my dress through them but it isn't going to be in until July!
They have been wonderful for me as well. I was actually crazy and got a dress too small for me (its not my fault they don't make it in puls sizes) but I know I can loose the weight. However they said if I don't loose the weight I can trade it in for a different dress of the same cost! So I thought that was very nice! (it was actually the only way my mom would buy the dress)
Can we see what your dress looks like? You probably posted on the dress forum but this is me being lazy!

I would double check with the store manager regarding this, I purchased my dress from David's Bridal a year ago & had an issue with it being too tight when it came to fittings this April. I only had a month before my wedding and they told me they could order another dress (that would take 16 weeks GRR) but could not accept my previous dress as a credit because it was purchased more than 90 days ago. Luckily I had an awesome seamstress that made my top into a corset with ties & I loved my dress even more than the original. I would be cautious with them about this and get it in writing. Hopefully you will lose the weight that you want & need to have the dress taken in!

i had that problem iwth david's too. They don't tell you to order a size larger, because the dress you try on is so streched out from people trying it on.

now i'm squeezed into this dress and i'm going to be so uncomfortable. they told me they couldn't take it out becuase they didn't have the lace for the top. i have a big chest so that's the problem. even if i lose weight it's not going to help!!!

Nicole - I am sorry to hear that, they should deffintly inform you that the dress you try on might be stretched out!~

KT27- I did check with the store manager.....triple checked and she said they would take it in as trade as long as I left it in the store. I should have enough time to reoder if I know by Ocober if the dress fits or not. I have allowed myself plenty of time for this seeing as my wedding is in March.
Thank you so much for suggestion checking with the manager!

Great! I just didn't want you running into the same problem I had :)

I think with any chain type store it's hit or miss. I had a FANTASTIC experience with Davids (or maybe I shouldn't say that because i don't pick my dress up for the last time until next Thursday.... ;) all they were doing was bustling, so I'm pretty confident), but I had a horrible experience with Alfred Angelo for my bridesmaid dresses. I'm glad you had such a great time with Davids!! :)

That's awful, I'm so sorry! You shouldn't have to be uncomfortable on your wedding day. Is there any way another seamstress could do some alterations to make it fit better? Maybe try some different fabric in the back?

Just curious - they just go by the size you try on at David's? They don't measure you and go by a size chart? I didn't get my dress at David's and the bridal boutique I went to had only one dress in each size. They were all too big, but with clips and such my consultant was able to get me to see how it would look on me. Then she took very careful measurements, consulted the chart for that dress designer, and ordered the dress. My dress wasn't made until that order went in and in my case at least it was very specific to me as I had them add 3 inches to the top in the back. I had no idea David's didn't do this :confused3 I got a BM dress there once and they just went by size but I figured that was just for BM dresses. My MOH was measured for her BM dress at my bridal boutique same as I was. Interesting . . . they should figure the dresses stretch after all the try-ons!

Nikki, triple check on the exchange thing. I've gotten two different responses from David's. One that "all sales are final" and one that if dresses are at an abundance throughout the stores then you can easily swap it out at no additional cost because they know they can rotate the stock. Who was your coordinator at David's? Mine changed three times and ended up back at my original one from a year ago when it came time to order.

Also, on another subject....do you happen to know who's in charge of cheerleading right now? I'm moving up from the 3rd-4th grade jr. rocket squad to the 5th-6th grade sr. rocket and some of the girls have expressed an interest in getting into more dance routines and more complex cheers. I would love to find one of the varsity (or alumni) that might have some ideas for some knew things for the girls. I know nothing about the dance routines at all and would like to map out some stuff over the summer.

Soooooo glad to hear the wonderful words about David's. I'm a consultant there and I must say it's so good to hear the great things you said about the service that was provided for you. Of course that's where I'll be getting my dress from tooo :)

I'm trying to lose what I can, even if it's just a bit, it will make a difference. I keep putting it on, i figured that if the original dress i tried on ended up streching, that mine will too :bride: iI don't know of a seamstress here that i would trust to work on it, so it will have to do!

They didn't measure me, and to be hoest, i thought that they should know what they were doing and I didn't even think to ask to be measured!!

Now i tell all of my firends, either order 1 size up or get measured!!

Orlandogirl, stupid question....but are you actually in Orlando or is that just where you dream of being?

Second question: If you are in Orlando, is it possible to ship my gown from the Kalamazoo, MI store to your store in Orlando to avoid carting it on the plane??? We'll be down there staying a day or two before either near WDW or at Cocoa Beach.

Hello CJLKIM: Yes, I'm a true "Orlando Girl", born and raised here:) It wasn't a stupid question:) As for shipping your dress, David's Bridal doesn't ship store to store only to a residence (do you have any family members here that you could have the dress shipped to? Shipping is only $15). Your other option would be to bring your dress with you and get a complimentary steam and press once you get here. They like for you to have your dress in about 2 weeks before the wedding. You can always call and see what availability they may have during the time you're in Orlando. Hope this helps:) Congratulations...

Thanks Orlandogirl. Since DCL does complimentary steaming I think I'll be good on that...I'm just getting freaked out my other threads reporting bad experiences when travling via plane with their dresses ending up ruined. Some people take it as a "carryon" but I just can't imagine lugging it. I originally just planned on getting the max suitcase allowed and praying all the way to FL. Opinion?

CJLKIM: I don't think you'll have anything to be worried about. If it would make you feel better, why not call the airline and let them know your situation or when you get there speak with them about your dress. That way they'll know to pay more attention to your items and "handle with care". Putting your dress in a garment bag so that it can be hung upright may be an option too. You might want to ask them about that as well. But again, I don't think you'll have anything to worry about. Hope this helped:)
