Dave Ramseying to Disney! Some final thoughts 8/18

To Agent or Not? To TGM or not?

  • Go it alone. It is worth all of the effort to plan it the way I want it.

  • Get the help. The right travel agent is worth his/her weight in pirate gold.

  • Plan it myself but get Tour Guide Mike to help with the itinerary.

  • Get the works. Use an agent AND buy Tour Guide Mike.

I am the assistant director at Premier Preschool so both the girls go with me. It is a great set up because I get to see them throughout the day and I still get a paycheck and adult interaction. Brooklynn is loving PreK. She thinks she is so grown up since she has homework now.

I tried to get Abby in there at one time when I went back to school full time but they were full then. She went to Providence Montessori for a little while. They have one amazing teacher so she went that year and then left when they moved her to the next class. Our good friend Mathew Huffman went to Premiere. He is at St. Johns this year. It is still so funny how close we are. And your MA drive won't be bad because you'll be 3/4 of the way there at Premiere. You should tell your DH to do Indian Princesses with Brooklyn next year. Tom and Abs just started but they love it so much. I'm so glad he gets to have some time just with her.

Dave Ramsey says that every relationship has a nerd and a free spirit and for us that could not be more true. Obviously Mr. Pocket Protector is our nerd and I am the free spirit so it is with that in mind that I ask...
Who do you think did what in the last couple of days?
Someone made this

while someone else shopped for this for Abby

and this for Brady (only $3!)

and this for me

Any guesses?
Well, not to give it away but if any of you can decipher what that excel spreadsheet says by all means let me know!

I want that Jiminy Cricket shirt!!   I like your Mickey shirt too. :goodvibes

OK...I'm going to take a shot at the spreadsheet...cause I use one and my DH loves to make fun of me for doing it!

You've got the total number of dining credits, which are then broken out by the number of adult credits and number of child credits. Then you have how many dining credits total have been used and then broken out by adult credits and child credits.

Next is your day-to-day itinerary and where you'll be on each of those days, this also includes where you're eating and activities and it also has the number of adult credits and number of child credits you will use for meals on each of those days.

Last, is a list of the places where ya'll would like to eat, where they're located and the type of meal.

So...is there a nerdy emoticon somewhere?

I want the JC shirt too. Walmart has them but only in girls sizes. :upsidedow

I think you are right, I couldn't figure out why there were 3s and stuff. He is nuts!! I am totally going to write it my way at some point. I may be a free-spirit but I am a type A free-spirit!
And the only nerd emoticon I know is
8-B look sideways.

I'm so excited for consignment sale season. I already have about 100 items ironed, hung and pinned. I'm just waiting to hear the dates for my favorite consignment sale to post and then I'll start pricing and sorting. I made about $230 in the spring sale. It went toward other clothes purchases. Now that we are doing Dave Ramsey I have plenty of money in my clothing envelope so I am pretty sure whatever I make I will put toward our trip. Our goal is to not spend one dime of salary on the trip. I have a lot of big items to sell as well. A double stroller (although I hope to find a new used one), a jumparoo, bouncy seat and swings etc. I would love to hit $400 sold and then put abut $330 away for Disney assuming I buy a double stroller.

Does anyone else look forward to (but dread the work of) consignment sale season? How many sales do you hit? Do you get a priority shopping number for volunteering at the sale? I have personally never done that but would like to one day.

I am a huge fan of consignment season. I am more of a buyer than a seller though. With two boys, we pretty much destroy boy clothing in our house. I am too cheap to pay full price in the store but want my kids to be super cute!

Way to go you on the selling! What sort of double stroller are you in search of?

My items are hung and partially tagged. I am just waiting for them to hurry up and figure out that lease so that we know the exact dates. I made $150 in the spring. I have lots of bigger stuff to sell this time around. I haven't volunteered because there are restrictions on how many hours you have to work at what times and as a working mommy those shifts don't work for me. I figure by consigning I get to shop early and there is still a TON to choose from. (I say all of this assuming you are talking about Kid's Market.)

Yes, I am noticing that with the boys stuff. By the time Colin gets through with it we will only have rags left. :lmao:

And I bought a double stroller yesterday. I got a combi double. It so much better than my big Graco. It will be perfect for Disney. I love it. I talked them down from $150 to $100. Craig's List. It looks brand-new. I am trying to sell mine on Craig's List for $75. If it doesn't sell then I will consign for like $85

you know it! :thumbsup2
Depending on what day it is maybe we can have a DIS meet there. Do you get up early to get a good number? I do sometimes. I am getting nervous about them not announcing a date. I think we may have missed all of the others. I still love Kids Market. I think it gets you stuff seen the most. I left them a FB message yesterday.

Sounds like a great deal on the double! I went back and forth between the Combi and Maclaren double when we were double stroller shopping and I ended up paying the big bucks for a Mac. (That was long before I "met my friend Dave".) While I spent a pretty penny on that thing it was worth every cent and even though we used the heck out of it, I was still able to sell it for $100.

We are now a two stroller family again. Aileen has a Peg Perego and if Liam needs a stroller, he's got a Mac Volo to use. I anticipate that coming to the park with us about 30% of the time.

I will be able to consign but not shop early since I will be in Disney on that Saturday. Oh well! I can stop by on Wednesday when I get back.

Wow! I just stumbled on this PTR and was shocked at how similar we are! I, too, am a SAHM to 3 kids. I, too, am nursing a baby between computer posts. I'm a couponer. And I, too, have cloth diapers I need to sell!:rotfl: My trip is a long time away (just started my PTR---it's a year from now!), but my kids will be 5 (a dancer like yours!), 3, and 1 at the time. We decorated our change jar today, and we're ready to get serious about saving money for Disney! SOOOOO happy to run across your PTR, and I'll be checking out your blog, as well!

Oh a likely excuse not to get up at 5 am with a bunch of strangers and wait to get a number. Well, Disney does sound better than that. So does just about anything else!

Yes, I would have loved a Mac Double. We have a Mac single that I loved on our fist Disney tip. I bought it on closeout from BBrU when they retiured that model. I will never give it up. I'll put my grandkids in that stroller!

Yeah, we do sound so much alike. Glad we found each other!
Oh yeah, the blog...I've been meaning to work on that. Try as I might I just never have time. Maybe one day. I would check out the Couponing to Disney blog. I love her stuff. I will let you know if I ever pickmy blog back up. Sorry but enjoy my PTR. You can see that I started my PTR early too. It is half the fun! Going to check out yours now!

Questions abound!
I have many questions right now…
Would you rather a LeCellier lunch or a Chefs de France dinner? The menus both look so good. I know ADRs are a long way off but I’m on WW. I think about food! A lot!
I haven't been to Chef's but I have been to Le Cellier, and I am planning on hitting that up on our next trip..Although i plan on trying Chefs as well lol. Le Cellier is more appealing to me though!

For dinner would you rather Akershus or 1900 PF?
1900 for sure! Akeshurs has a great breakfast, but the dinner is :crazy2:
We have done neither.
I am using touingplans.com and it says that Brady’s birthday is a 2.9 at the MK and the other parks are like 5.5/7.5/7.6. We would like to do MK on his birthday. BUT on the overall calendar it has MK as a park to avoid that day. That seems crazy. A 2.9 and I should avoid it? Why? I never get those touring plans!
My parents are deciding when they come here for Abby’s B-day. We are going to sit down and hash out a plan. They are leaning toward coming. Heavily. But they had such a wonderful time in Charleston and they are remembering how many years it has been since we all rented a big beach house. It has been a while. Sigh.
Abby originally wanted a DS for her birthday but now we are leaning toward an ipod touch. Let me know your thoughts!!

hmm... thats a tough one. She just in Kindergarten? I would go with the DS. That is when my DD got hers, and she still loves it to itty bitty pieces! However, she also LOVES my iphone and iTouch. She is also going to be 10, and is very into music and aps though, she can easily browse herself, etc.. Both are a great electronic investment, try seeing which one you could get at a better deal! I know game stop sells used Ds's. They always rea in great condition, and 5 below sells really fun cases/covers for them!

Also, GREAT choice on hotel!! I LOVED CSR!!! I can PM yo a link to my old TR if you like. It has a great deal of dining reviews and a ton of CSR pics! I adore that place and truly felt like I was on vacation!:cloud9:

I like your money saving ideas! I have been trying to rack my brain, but I think I am too lazy! If I weren't so lazy, I 'm pretty sure I could earn a TON of money... but it all seems like so much effort lol

Anywho, subbing and looking forward to reading the rest of your plans!

I'm so glad you loved CSR. And yes, I would love to see your TR. The couple of TRs from there that I have read have not had kids.
Thank you for the dining suggestions. I think we are going to just that. I am waiting on my parents to let me know if they will be there as some choices will reflect them. I think some character dining may be too over the top for them.
Money saving has never been easier with all of the blogs out there. I read several local ones that tell you exactly what coupon and where to find it goes with what store each week. I save tons. Maybe 2 extra hours of work a week.
And we ended up getting a great deal on a touch since they are putting out the new models. She got the old one which is plenty. But the plan is to look for a used DS since you can always find them cheap. She can use her own money for that. She has loved the touch so far. She is addicted to plants vs zombies.

I did not know that. That is great. We are having a girls weekend away next month and I'm not even going to bring the portable DVD player. She can just use her touch. I will go look for those now. I think they will love CSR. They loved WL and Abby was disappointed we were not going back but when I told her there were like 18 Disney hotels she said, "oh we have to try them all" Yes, yes we do!

Erin, do you use southernsavers to find coupon matches?? I love that site, and almost always save 60% or more on my grocery trips. I shop at both Publix and Kroger, but I know they have tons of stores that they list for, at least in the south.
