We did Financial Peace University. It was very helpful to us. We were young, just married, and needed some financial direction. Sometimes classes offered through churches will pay for the materials/fees for you. Unfortunately, our leader was not very helpful at all, so we did most of the class stuff on our own. Every class is led by a different person, so if you're not happy with the leader of the class you sign up for you can go to a different class. Once you pay you're a lifetime member and can attend classes any time you want/need to.
If the money up front is tough for you, try reading Dave Ramsey's books, which are probably available at your library. You can do a lot on your own.
What we found helpful was that there was a set of steps to follow that helped us prioritize our money and spending, and get out of debt. At age 25 the only debt we had was our home. Not too shabby. Unfortunately we've had to borrow a small amount to purchase a car, but we're paying it down rapidly. So now we only owe a couple thousand on a car, and our home. Still not bad at age 29.
