Dave Ramsey on DVC

The problem with all the media financial experts is they constantly remind you of all their advice that turned out good and never mention the busts.
In Dave Ramsey's case, he was gifted a real estate business by his parents at 18, drove it into bankruptcy, then used his parents' influence to get another business loan, and lose a lot more money before third time was the charm.

Can't help but bring to mind Lisa's perpetual motion machine and Homer's admonition that "In this house we obey the laws of thermodynamics!"

As someone who works on coolant and AC systems, that's one of my favorite lines in the entire show!

So he knows what he is talking about ! Lol

He just takes what he did and teach the opposite.
Robert Kiyosaki is the worst offender I have personally seen. He has been claiming a financial collapse is imminent (and people should invest in gold) for at least 7 years.

I listened to him and bought gold a maybe 5-7 years ago! It is up like 25%? I was so happy then I check my 401k at my job that is in a regular stock market fund, its like doubled lol (not really I'm sad)

Yes, and his approach to wealth building, if strictly followed, is basically leverage yourself as much as possible and pray nothing goes wrong. Hopefully no one adheres to it that strictly.

He pretty much wants you to buy real estate and run your own "business." All the guru's are the same; buy real estate, collect rent, buy some more, sell real estate, buy some more. People waste money and time going to seminars, listening to their podcast, and reading their books to get a fluff up version of buy, renovate, rent/flip.

Against all advice we just bought another 425 points. I generally agree with Dave on Timeshares but Disney is an exception as it has a monopoly on the hotels near the parks and the Disney transportation system. Something you won't find in other timeshares in cities or resort towns.

The man uses scare tactics to drive timeshare owners to his crook sponsors - timeshare exit companies. Most timeshares are fine if you become knowledgeable about the property, the system, and how to use it effectively.

I think the internet has been key to this. It’s much easier to truly do your homework on this. On pricing, on how the systems work, people’s views, etc. It is unsurprising to me in the 80s and 90s that so many people were fleeced by these companies….

please do! I want to hear more feedback on this. ugghh, my signature is really bothering me....
Not sure if everyone got their resort pics fixed, but you "can" just go in and do a simple Signature Line like mine (just text and colors) until you find the time and photos you like.

Yes! It forced me to go in and get a little creative. I like what I settled with. 😃

As long as DW is a hot destination ; DVC will be a hot commodity. I'm not sure how the resale restrictions on newer resorts will affect the product in the future but it won't be positive as it takes all the flexibility out of the DVC program.
I think this is a bit hyperbolic... The resale restrictions removes flexibility for a specific demographic only, i.e., anyone who purchased their points on the resale market. As a direct purchaser, I can use all of my points at every resort, the same as always.
