So we're down to paying off our house and God willing, that will be done by this time next year.
About six months before I turn thirty and twenty three years before the mortgage company wants us to finish.
:cool1:
Anyway, I believe in splurging on vacations after you're able to enjoy them and for me that means being debt free including my house.
Then we will hit it up on a lovely Disney Cruise. Not in a concierge room (this time) but in a lovely relaxing "it's all been paid for and saved up ahead of time so let's hit the spa" kind of way.
:cloud9:
My four year old already is saving part of his commission (give, save, spend envelope system) each week for our cruise (one and a half years out) and our daughter will as well once she's three and on commission.
:cutie:
We did take a vacation last fall for our tenth anniversary but other than that have been quite dedicated to the DR plan since we started three years ago.

Any other diehards out there?

I just love the light at the end of the tunnel enough that we've decided to run as hard as we can and just finish the house. Which, of course, is making lots of our friends look at us like we're crazy.

Living like nobody else!

Oh my goodness- congratulations! DH and I are purchasing our first house this year and really want to pay it off quickly. I don't even know where to start though!

Just keep saving

My aunt used to say "spend a little, save a little".

Congrats.

We have no debt other than our mortgage and if we had done Dave before buying this house, we would be in a different house for sure! We are still considering selling and downsizing, but we aren't sure.

Very cool and congrats. We paid off our house in seven years several years ago. And took out a mortgage again last summer. Money is too cheap right now not to leverage IN OUR SITUATION. It will be a wonderful feeling to get it all paid for though.

That is wonderful and inspiring! Congratulations!! DH and I are 4 months into the DR plan. We've paid off a few of the lower balance credit cards so far and are enjoying our race to the finish and journey along the way. It was really strengthened our marriage to have this common goal. We've enjoyed working together on our budgets and discussing our finances and goals. We are planning on returning to Disney World for a budget vacation (that we'll pay for in cash! :thumbsup2 ) once our credit cards and consumer debts are paid off. It's a long way off (February 2015) but it will be sweet to know that we've earned it and are better off financially than we were when we started.

FANTASTIC!!!!! I'm a die-hard Dave fan too!!! DH and I did FPU just over a year ago, and it changed how we think and behave. I think it was also a plus for our marriage. This is the second marriage for both of us, and money problems plagued the first marriages. The TMMO has opened the lines of communication for us and we never fight about money.

We have everything paid off except for the house, and are working towards that too. Our Disney trip in June was totally paid for in cash, and it's a great feeling to know that the only thing I'll be coming home with is wonderful memories and great photos! (No vacay bills!!!)

Keep going with that gazelle intensity! So awesome!

Congrats! DH and I are on Baby Step 2, and hope to have that completed in 3 months (consumer debt was paid off in under a year, now paying off the HELOC). I can't even explain how GREAT it feels to have these debts gone...it's like...I just can't describe it. And it will all be in under 2 years...I am so thankful to DISboarders for introducing me to Dave Ramsey. (To which I say to my DH "See? All that time I spent on those boards paid off!!:rotfl:)

DH is a bit more "gazelle" than I am, so we are waiting to take a vacation until the HELOC is paid off (my idea was when the consumer debt was paid off), and believe me, it is going to be one BLOWOUT of a vacation when we go!!!!!!! I'm thinking a cruise on the Dream.... :cutie:
