Did you watch? Wasn't it fantastic????? It was so great when he walked her to the theater, wasn't it????

I'm a huge Dave fan - this was a really fun show. What did you think???

I loved it!!! I think she was surprised about how wonderful the whole thing turned out! I loved it when he walked her out to her play!!!

I missed it, I fell asleep. What happened?
Oprah agreed to be on Dave's show after several years of a "feud" that had existed between them. I think she was expecting him to be a little difficult or cranky, and he was charming and even a little fawning, I thought. But it was fun to watch - I do think he was trying really hard to show that he could be a nice guy sometimes. Anyway, it was great for his ratings (and he needs them, Leno usually creams him!)

He had her tell some stories from her past that showcased the style we have come to expect from Oprah, he discussed her work in Africa, and he talked to her about The Color Purple, which opened last night on Broadway. Oprah is producing it. Then, at the end, he asked if he could escort her to the theater, which was next door, and they walked out and over with a camera following them. It was great!!!!

Ah, I'm sorry I missed it. It sounded like a great show, I wanted to tape it but I forgot.

It was a great show. I've always been a big Letterman fan. Leno can be funny at times, but he's too much of a kiss-up to his guests.

I think Leno appeals to a simpler mind. :rolleyes1

Leno sometimes makes me chuckle.
Letterman makes me LAUGH.

I watch Dave... but sometimes Leno has guests that appeal to me more than Letterman. However... I tune out Jay.. LOL....

Letterman is a hoot.

oh and Oprah was right on when she commented that Dave has softened since the birth of his son, Harry.

He and Oprah were interesting and DAVE was interested in Oprah.. Oprah seemed to be a wee bit on guard. She must have been nervous about the opening night of The Color Purple.
fashion comment follows..

Oprah-girl- lose that brown flouncy dress! and Dave.. what is with the white socks and expensive leather shoes? ;)

This is my only beef with Dave - is this a fashion trend I missed?

I think Dave can sometimes make his guests uncomfortable . . . and he can be perceived as laughing AT his guests, instead of with them on occasion.

And I think that whole Letterman-Oprah "feud" started at Dave's ill-fated attempt at hosting the Oscar telecast, didn't it? The infamous "Uma/Oprah . . Uma/Oprah . . . Uma/Oprah" dialogue.

Anyway, both looked like they were genuinely having a good time.

Wonder when Dave's going to be on Oprah's show now?

Dave is helping Oprah produce the Color Purple.

Oprah was on the David Letterman show in 1986 and she said "Dave belittled her" and she would never go on his show again.

Ya, it was nice that Oprah finally decided to go on David Letterman-both of them gained the publicity they needed for their own agendas.
