Well my 16-year-old daughter really wanted to stay at ASMovies in January rather than at CSR, so I switched us. What is wrong with her? Lol. Hope it will be a good ,move on my part. I booked a preferred room.

I don't blame her, I would also choose ASM between those two! :)

The worst experience that I have ever had have been staying at the Values. Never again am I staying at a the value hotels. This is with having 35+ stays on property over a couple of decades. Something always goes wrong at the values, usually other guest related. Plus the rooms are smaller and the bus stops are not covered. Lots of little things that add up to a worse experience. I am glad some of you like them, it means more availability at the moderates and deluxes. 😉

Sadly deluxe resorts are out of my budget. (We did stay at BC once with a fantastic discount.) We like to go yearly or more. Maybe if I could go 5 years between trips I could pay for deluxe but I don't have enough willpower to last that long. LOL. Normally we stay at POFQ but sadly that isn't an option now. We have always enjoyed our stays at Pop, AoA and Movies as well. I cannot think of a single issue we've had. Yes, it's good that there are options for all preferences and budgets!

This too. I am in the very same boat.

I am really going to be doing my home work in regards to finding out if there will be any big tour groups there when we visit. If I find such, I will change it up. I have done that before.

We are POFQ fans as well. We have stayed at Movie and CSR before and for our upcoming visit we were between CSR and Movie (CBR in March 2022 if POFQ not open yet). We let our DS15 pick and he picked Movie. What? Okay, are you sure? We are at Movie with a preferred room. Only stay at Movie once for two nights when he was 7 years. At least it's cheaper for a quick visit plus knowing we are going back in March. I'll report back to see if my DS made a good pick.

Her and her friend like to take pics with the big icons at the resort.
More expensive does not necessarily mean better. ASM and CSR have completely different vibes, and I easily can imagine reasons why one might be preferred over the other.

My spouse and I sometimes lament that one of our daughters prioritizes the photos she can post ahead of the actual experience itself. :(

I understand. CSR is a wonderful place but not "disney" enough for my kid. He loves POFQ and AKL because he's most familiar with those. When I showed him pictures of CSR to remind him of the place, he wasn't impressed. Score for the check book.

A preferred room is near the main pool and lobby.

It's particularly convenient if you go back-and-forth between the food court.

We’re DVC so we always stay at DVC resorts, but after my kids incessant whining we booked a split AoA/ASMu trip a few years ago, and they’ve been asking to stay at those two resorts again ever since. and my younger kids are mad that they don’t really remember those trips so considering doing AoA next year. My friend is going the same time as us this February and they’re staying at Pop and my kids are begging to go hang out with them at Pop.

Oh I looovveee CSR and if it were to get a nice discount, I would just Uber us over to ASMovies for her pics, lol.

If she loves taking photos with the large icons, you made the right choice. I am an adult and I generally prefer All Star movies over CSR. It’s much more compact and you can easily walk around ASM and take loads of pictures if that’s what she likes. You can also walk to the other All-Star resorts to take photos with their icons too. I don’t like the moderates simply because of the bus system within the resort with all the multiple stops.

Also since you got a preferred room you might be in the toy story section which is actually my favorite of all of them. And I think the cafeteria there is great for teenagers too.

I will say I do prefer the GDT at this point for myself if I stay at a moderate. But even with that option, it’s definitely not as Disney-fied, so it sounds like your daughter made the right choice.

Bahahaha that is such a teenage reason!!! But I’d probably be the same way!
And honestly- I’d take movies over Coronado too. Movies is cute and the new rooms are really nice. Coronado just doesn’t interest me much. If I’m not going to have an option for another mode of transportation, I’m def not paying MORE for it. Movies it is! Lol!

I am amazed at the number of kids who have so much sway over where their families stay! Growing up I was just happy enough to get to go - it would never have occurred to me to complain about where my parents selected for us to stay. (And honestly even as an adult if my parents pay for lodging - which they will sometimes do on family trips, my sister and I just cover our airfare - it would never occur to us to say "Can't we stay here instead?")

I'm glad it seems to work for so many of y'all. I'm just amazed. LOL
