We've been told a few different things from Disney when calling to set up our vacation. 1 CM literally told us the calls get recorded for quality control and was warning me that if we "really" didn't want to pay for her ticket the day she turns 3, technically we didn't have to, but morally we should think about it - REALLY?!

I was then told by someone else that "no one ages at Disney" meaning they do not expect a guest to pay on the day they turn 3 if they check in a few days prior while still 2.

Yet another said that "technically" she wouldn't need park tickets but that the "no one ages in Disney" is for kids who are turning 10 and would not be charged as an adult. I asked nicely if the "no one" part of the statement should be revised to saying 'anyone over 3" because honestly, after dropping the amount of $ we do on Disney store, trips, etc., I don't really appreciate getting a guilt trip. Of course, I'd rather not drop a few extra hundred dollars to buy her a ticket for the 3 days she will be 3 but I also don't want to feel bad the whole time.

Any thoughts? Thanks - sorry to vent!

If she is 2 when you check in, I really would not worry about it. No one will ask at the parks.

That first CM is a wackadoodle. If she starts the trip as 2, she is that age for the entire trip. Disney does not penalize a child for aging up while they are there. Just be sure to schedule any extras like BBB for the part of the trip when she is actually 3 (due to age requirements).

Edit: The last person was wrong, too.

Personally while I haven't traveled over the week of either child's birthday, I have never heard anything different than everything is priced according to the age the child is at the start of the trip, meaning if they are 2 at the start, they are 2. If they are 9 at the start, they are 9. I have never heard of buying the ticket on the child's birthday when it occurs during the trip.

When reserving the trip online, that is the age it asks for, "age of the children at the time of travel". Of course I usually book mine online unless I'm doing a military discount. I only talk to someone to make payments or make BBB or Pirate's League reservations. Maybe do that. Try just booking your trip online if you can.

Disney is. Magical place where you never age. The age you are when you check in is the age you are for the trip (unless you are turning 21 ;) ) so if you check in and are 2 you do not need tickets. If you check in and you are 9 you do not need adult tickets.

My son turned 3 in the middle of our last trip and we had no problems. I was worried about it before we left and even wondered if I should let him wear his 'guess who's turning three' mickey birthday shirt. But everything turned out fine. At the gate we were only asked once and said he was under two at the begging of the trip. We said the same thing at restaurants when he shared our meals, we had the dining plan. It was so wonderful to celebrate his birthday there and he still loves looking at his disney birthday trip.

My daughter had a birthday during our last trip. When I was booking our resv, the CM told me they go by the age at check in.
