My daughter will be 9 in October so she wants to go to MK yet again :goodvibes but this time Just Mommy and me. She is the baby of 5 , so should be alot of fun. Anyways she has VERY sensative hearing. We use ear plugs the same kind her Autistic brother uses and he is fine with things. Things like Fireworks, the train whistle, some shows etc drive her to tears and make her start to run away to get away from them.:confused3 I have told her this time no running away because it takes time to get into theses places plus she has a Special needs pass for a Heart condition so some of the places for the parades etc we can get into you would die for ;)
I just want to make this the best trip for her because she really needs "Alone" time but i dont want to have her end up in tears. She wanted to go to the trick or treat thing but I told her No because of her previous meltdowns. any ideas are greatly appreciated!!:cheer2:

Our little one was bothered by loud noises, too. We got her some junior sized ear muffs--like shooters ear protection. She wore them for many Disney trips and even to movies or parades at home. We have such cute photos of her in them and it made things like fireworks and shows doable. She would grab them whenever she got worried or scared and they helped a lot. She still uses them for Blue Angels shows and she's 11 now.

I have an 8 year old with SID/SPD and we brought earplugs for him, which did help a lot. My only advice: Skip Dinosaur!

We use the earmuff type noise cancelling headphones at my school. All of the kids love these. They are comfortable and really help. You can get kids sizes in the hunting department of a local store or order them from Amazon.

Sorry to hijack your thread but could you tell me more about the special needs pass and how you get it? I have a son with a congenital heart defect and a son with aspergers. I wasn't aware of any sort of special pass.

I second the noise cancelling headphones, they work really well.

What she is talking about is a Guest Assistance Card.
It is basically a card that you show to the CMs at attractions that tells a little bit about the needs of the person with a disability.

You can find out more information about Guest Assistance Cards in post #6 of the disABILITIES FAQs thread. There is a link in my signature that goes to that thread.

oh she wanted to try dinosaurs. glad you said something i assume super loud yikes. why dont they lower the sounds just a bit. the lazor show thing at hollywood studios made her cry so bad we left after 10 mins. walked to guest relations and had to yell to talk to the guy. incredable!
thanks for the tip!

I'm surprised that your doctor has not provided something for your daughter. People we know with sensative hearing have gotten some special type of ear protectors from the local gun / shooting range store. You might want to give this a try.:surfweb:

Didnt think of the doc maybe my son's Neuro might have an idea seeing my son is Autistic . I thought of the gun range too but hubby things they will be the same as in the stores? Also thought maybe a small does of valium so she wont be freaking out over anything although I dont like give kids meds if not needed but she gets sooo upset she cant enjoy herself untill she calms back down which makes me sad. Thanks for everyones ideas!!

My young cousin is sensitive to hearing as well my dad lent my aunt and uncle a pair of heavy duty headphones that people use on jobsites or at shooting ranges. You should be able to find them at home depot or lowe's if not, the internet like amazon or something.
