Daughter finished CP/Going Seasonal ?????

Good morning,

My dd went down in Jan. and was supposed to check out in May. She loved it so much, she extend until 8/2. She graduated yesterday but had applied for seasonal which she got.

We do not live local (NY). I want to help and support as much as I can. She has at least 4 years of school so we will take this one step at a time but I am trying to figure out how we can make this work.

Coming down a week once or twice is doable staying at a hotel but she would like to work most of her hours in the summer. Trying to figure out if renting an apartment is doable and can be done for two months.

Any suggestions, opinions, experiences are welcomed from students and/or parents.

I did this for several summers. The most difficult thing is finding an apartment with a short term lease. I guess the next most difficult thing was to set up utilities (lots and lots of deposits) and getting that all TCO'd out of state.

Roommates were fairly easy since a lot of people were in the same boat. There could very well be someone else out there who is doing all of the leg work and is looking for a roommate. She just needs to make sure that she is in a good area. The complex I stayed in my first summer went down hill after I left and I didn't feel safe staying there the next.

Seasonal Cast Members have to commit to 150 hours a year (I believe) now.

My daughter did the CP then went seasonal. She lived in our condo for the first year then moved back up to Michigan. Of course right after she move here 2 years ago, Disney changed the requirements to 150 hours/yr to be worked. These hours are evaluated every 3 months, so it is a roll over like eval. She has managed to maintain these hours but may just fall short this September....not sure yet. The bad part is she gives them hours she can work but does not know if shes working until the schedule comes out 2 weeks prior to the work days. She has said she's available 40 hours but gets scheduled say 15 hours. If it wasn't for her nice co-workers giving her some of their shifts she would not have made it this long. It is very difficult to commute and even harder to get that much time off her job.

Finding out if you are scheduled and what your schedule is two weeks prior would not be good for planning our/her trip down of course. We are hoping she can do this in two/three trips tops. We are hoping also that they do give her hours and/or she can pick up an extra shift. We will give it a try and if it does not work out - oh well - she will eventually know we have our limits.

Hopefully she will not need an apartment for two months - she will give me more details hopefully tomorrow during our drive back home.

She managed for 2 years of making trips down three times a year. The best way to have the possibility of making sure she has hours is to go during the busy times...she went during end of Dec start of Jan, spring break and in August. Their is also a place online were she could pick up shifts which people wanted off, not sure what it was called. I will say it is a costly job to keep. Between time off work, car rental, plane ticket prices and lodging it adds up. We vacation and have a condo there so that helped to justify it...for awhile

Oh forgot to add...every three months they want your availability to work. So they do stay up to date on if the required hours are being met.
