My daughter, a sophomore, took the spring interview a week ago and was declined. Being in the DCP is a goal she has wanted for a while and she's really discouraged, since she doesn't know what she did wrong. Have any of you ever been turned down after the WBI and then made it through for the next season? She really wants fall 2013 badly & plans to retake in 6 months. Thanks!

Yup I was declined for Fall 2012 and just took it this week and passed. I think I was a lot more prepared and understood more what the Web Based Interview was asking and didn't rush through it. I was pretty upset when I didn't pass the 1st time but you definitely have a better feel for it 2nd time around.

Tell her to keep her head up!

I'm in the same boat. I failed the WBI last semester and passed it this time around. Had my phone interview yesterday. Tell her not to be too discouraged! There is always next semester!

The same thing happened to me, and I totally know how she feels. I applied for the Fall 2012 program and was denied after the WBI. I was so disappointed and frustrated because I really didn't know what I had done wrong. But I applied again this semester and passed, and had my phone interview a couple days ago (Saturday). I think this time what I did differently was just to take my time on it more and really be sure to read each question VERY carefully.

I know how discouraging it is, but there's always next semester! If she's only a sophomore, she still has plenty of time to get into the program. Good luck next time around!

Yep. I took it for the first time for spring 2011 and failed it. I was so upset that I even called recruiting to see if I could still apply for spring 2011, with no luck obviously. I retook it 6 months later for fall 2011, passed, and got accepted. And I just retook it for spring 2013 and passed again. Looking back I don't know what I did any differently, except for misreading a question and giving a bad answer. I don't know if they do automatic fails but I can't figure it out. Good luck to your daughter for fall 2013!

Hi there! I did the college program in the fall semester of last year and am now a campus rep, so I have a tip for her for the future.

The WBI is intentionally set up to test someone's personality and how truthful they are being, as well as how much attention they are paying to the question. There are very similar questions, in different wordings on the WBI to test this.
For example: One question will be: "I am always on time." and another question will be "I am rarely late."

Different wording, but if you put "strongly agree" for always being on time and some other answer for rarely being late, it won't match and you won't pass. That is at least what I've heard from multiple sources. Pay very close attention to all the questions and do not rush.

There's always next time!

I applied for Fall 12 too and didn't pass the WBI. I thought I was gonna nail it but I definitely picked too many neutrals. And I think maybe I rushed through it a little bit. But I took my wbi on Friday and passed and my phone interview is Saturday. I think I knew more about the interview itself and had a better idea of my own abilities. Don't give up!! :thumbsup2

Thanks for all the responses...she's a disboard member so I know you guys' responses will make her feel more hopeful. I think she was real excited and might have rushed through a little on the WBI. This is valuable advice, thanks!

Someone on tumblr posted that they did not pass the web interview. They were very disappointed so rang up to see why they had failed, Disney told them that there was a glitch in the system and all of their questions had been submitted unanswered!!

Did you call up to see if they had any suggestions?

She didn't do that. At this point she's chalked it up to experience, and since she really wanted fall to begin with she's concentrating on that now. Until I read this board, I wasn't aware you could even contact them by phone if you didnt get picked to go on.
