Can anyone recommend a good, wholesome dating website? Nothing where the participants want a quick meet or some odd cult following!
Since you joined just to post this. Why not share the sites you think are wholesome sites for people wanting long term relationships.I disagree with people who think there are no wholesome dating websites for people who want a long-term relationship and not just hookups. There are such websites, but they are less popular, obviously.
I think the cost aspect of Match makes it more likely that one is more serious than the free sites (like Plenty of Fish). But it also makes the traffic on them less. I think it is great that you found someone so quickly. My wife and I used Match.com when we met 14 years ago. I joined on a Saturday, matched her on Tuesday, we 11 days later and have been together ever since. Best $95 I ever spent.
These days that is how people meet. As a single person it’s the only way I know how to meet other single people. Can’t say I was very successful in finding someone though.I don't know which sites they used, but I know an awful lot of married people who met on dating sites.
As a millennial, I would say that isn’t true. I don’t date online but I mostly have found dates through friends I trust. Having good friends is the key to finding other good people. Happy people date happy people. These days that is how people meet. As a single person it’s the only way I know how to meet other single people. We've got married before the internet was really a thing, much less before dating sites. But there's got to be other ways to meet people...As a single person it’s the only way I know how to meet other single people.

* Join a sports league (doesn't have to be high energy, bowling would suffice).
* Take a class (pretty sure colleges and universities still offer "community courses"). Find something you're interested in and learn more about it.
* Join some kind of group. See if your library or local bookstore has book clubs. Or start one yourself.
Now, I'm sure you'll just say I'm out of touch and none of these will work. But there HAS to be other ways to meet other singles. What happens after you meet them is a different story and up to you.
And I know some married people who still used dating sites to cheat.I don't know which sites they used, but I know an awful lot of married people who met on dating sites.
