Way back in the day I used a couple of them (free ones) something that is now called spark.com, and the yahoo personals.

The sites themselves were free.... and I have to say the stories of the bad dates I had are priceless.

Met my DH on eHarmony. We each signed up for a year, at the same time, and we were matched in 2 weeks. After 6 months of dating, we tried to cancel our profiles, but not only can you not "cancel" the profile (I was able to shut off the option of having matches sent to me, but other men were still able to see and contact me), you can't get a refund on the unused $200-something fee

This site did not match you to anyone, you searched and viewed the profiles of people that you selected.

there are alot of people that do not answer questions and/or present themselves truthfully.

I tried a site that sent me matches and after reading about the person they matched me with I was like they have got to be kidding.
