Dating Advice needed...is it a red flag?

I'm sure you'll find someone terrific, but he's not it.
He seems to already have lied to you-- can he not read/write because of drugs, a stroke, or is he Autistic?? (By the way, DBF works with the developmentally disabled and I know he'd say that every Austistic he knows would NOT be capable to handle the emotions/sharing, etc. that comes along with dating!)

You know, there could be several reasons a person is missing his teeth. Perhaps the OP is missing some or all, as well. Are you suggesting a person who lost his teeth should never be involved in a relationship?

No, but he should have the decent courtesy to not take them out at the dinner table!:crazy2:

OP, There are red flags here. Don't be an ostrich. If he has been sober and drug free for almost a decade why would he still not have a driver's license?

What did your stepfather have to say about him? You said they used to work together.

Do not stay with him because you feel sorry for him! Don't make him your "project".

TC:cool1:

Run screaming.

And tooth loss probably means crystal meth, an evil evil drug that's nearly impossible to shake.

Did you know that you can find sobriety medallions on Ebay?

Please be careful when you break the news to him...do it in a public place or over the phone.

I would've hit the road after he took out his teeth! :lmao: Nice teeth are important to me, though. He's been recovered for 9 years, and can't get his license back? He wants to take your family out for your birthday? Seems REALLY fast. And asking you to drive 2 hours to visit his mother's grave - obviously not an emergency that causes him to ask someone he just met. I'd run.

No, but he should have the decent courtesy to not take them out at the dinner table!:crazy2:

I totally agree ..my dh has false teeth just b/c he was born with very bad teeth and could not be fixed ...However he NEVER EVER takes them out in public!!!! only at home in the bathroom and then he puts them out of sight (i guess he doesn't like anyone seeing them) :lmao:

op RUN please he is not good for you ..sounds like is a bit of a loser and user ....you don;t want to sucked into that...it could turn into something you don't want it to ...good luck..:goodvibes

You sound like a really nice person but I think all of the things added up together are too much. You deserve better! Run fast and far away.

There are lots of reasons someone could be missing teeth, but the only one I can think of for taking your teeth out in a restaurant is that the person is choking to death and the person doing CPR removed them. That is beyond gross.

This guy doesn't raise a red flag -- he operates a red flag factory!

No, no, no, no, no. No. NO. NO!!!

This guy sounds, at minimum, to be impulsive and to have a limited sense of social boundaries and norms.

You don't suggest a cruise to someone on your first dates. You don't ask a woman you barely know to drive you 2 hours to your mother's grave. If you start dating a woman and her birthday is coming up in a couple of weeks, you take her out to dinner and give her a token gift. You don't send away for a present a few weeks beforehand.

He's going way too fast and try to ingratiate himself way too soon. Pushy doesn't usually end well. And the vague explanations and changing stories are a huge warning sign.

NO!!!

Um ... RUN don't walk. You are too young to "settle" for this guy and given his issues that is what it sounds like to me and you barely know him.
