I am planning on getting married at the WP on the 1st Mon of the 2nd week in Sep 2008 (think its the 8th)......Here is where the confusion starts, I phoned to try and book this date and was told that I could not do this until 8 half months before, but then I keep reading that people have there dates "pencilled" in at the 12month mark.

I am really desperate for this date as all my family have booked there flights(from the UK) around this date and if I cant get it...well I dont even want to think about that!!

Could anyone tell me what I should do - will they pencil me in or not????:confused3

it all depends on what wedding you are having if its an intimate one with less that 18 guests then you cant contract till 8 months. we are having a custom wedding and also have venues that are not convention centres so we contract at 12 months. We are from the UK as well and we had our guests book thier holiday before we had our date confirmed.

Thanks for that!:thumbsup2 I just needed some reassurance that I am not going mad and that I am doing the right thing! I think I am a bit more concerned as its other peoples money and holiday plans that I have got to consider.

yes we worried about the same but thought that most of our guests would be there for at least a week so if we didnt get our first date we could be a bit flexible!!

We are getting married on 2nd sept 2008 and leave wdw on the 11th so will be out there for yours!

I suppose when you think of it like that then there is a bit of flexibility. When you booked you're date did they say that it was a busy time of year? Did you get you're first choice of date and time?

I waspenciled in at 18 months and all I knew that there was one other couple interested in our date. its their low season so I was told its quite quiet. we got our first choices with no problems at all
2:30pm wedding pavillion followed by ariels and uk lower dessert party.

There is 30 of us flying over and most of us are booked with virgin

That sounds a brilliant plan for your day! I would have loved to have had a Custom wedding but I just could not fill the room night requirements. I have got about 30 guests comming over from the UK but have just had to invite very close family. Thanks for all you're help!! Its nice to know that someone else is trying to plan a long distance wedding.

its only 25 nights you have to fill so if you stay 14 nights on site and then another couple do it thats 28 room nights done! i was worried about it but now we have about 90 room nights booked

Wow, you definatly had the room night min sorted-unfortunatly most of my family go to Florida so much that they own or know someone that owns a villa!Ive looked into staying for the 25 nights myself but it just doesnt work out financially.Oh well you cant win them all and i'll still be having the wedding of my dreams-i will have to just tell about 15 people about it!

well at least you can have 20 including you and DF so only 10 will be let down

We're having a custom wedding and just got pencilled in for the 12 month mark. We can't sign until the 8 month mark though because we didn't pick any locations you can contract at the 12 month point. In order to get our date we said we would get married anywhere at anytime as long as it was on our date. That sort of flexibility has paid off for us so far. I think it's just harder if you want exact certain places. For us the date was more important than the place. You gotta pick and choose your battles.
