Dasani Girl's Pre-Trip Report for April 2013! LINK TO TRIP REPORT ADDED!!!!

Sorry I haven't been around much, sitting at Cleveland clinic with my boyfriend for the last week. We found out last March he had cancer and after a long year of chemo and surgeries he is cancer free!!!!! Going home tomorrow, yay!!!

Anyway, sounds like your rides list is working itself out. Can't wait to hear more.

Good call with Brayden and the Dinosaur ride! Terrifying! I'm trying to talk my six year old out of doing Mission Space. Hopefully he'll go for the chicken version at least! Looking forward to reading more about your trip! :)

I'm wondering how he will react to the restaurant T-Rex! I think he'll like it so hopefully we're not in for a rude awakening.
I wouldn't let my kid ride Mission: Space either so I don't blame you there! I just hate thinking that they might be scared and won't be able to get off of a ride. :(

Oh my goodness, you certainly had a reason to be MIA. I'm so sorry to hear about the cancer but YAY for him kicking its butt! I am thrilled to hear that. Hugs to y'all, I know it had to be a hard road for you both

We're getting close to finding out if we'll get Bonnet Creek or not. Fingers crossed!!

How is everyone?

Eeek!! I can't wait to hear!

And I just realized that I never commented on your last post about the rides! I don't blame you at all for not letting him ride ToT or Dinosaur. When we took my 8 and 9 year old niece and nephew last year, I was worried about them being scared, so I understand!:)

Thanks! Were they scared?

I may be alone in this, but I really don't like the changes Disney is going through. The Magic bands do nothing for me. In fact, I wish they'd just keep things as they are. If it ain't broke, don't fix it!
I just don't understand it. :confused3 I really hope the bands aren't available when we go. I will opt out if they are, but to have the fastpass changed and these Mickey head RFID readers everywhere is just wrong to me. I heard we will have a "halo" of information over our heads.

I guess I'm just kind of "eh" about the trip right now. I really hope they change my mind but I can't help feeling like Disney will look like a cult with everyone walking around with these bracelets on.

They didn't act scared and said they LOVED all the rides! I was probably more nervous than they were!

I can understand what you mean about all the changes Disney is making. Sure seems like it's a lot of them right now. I'm not sure about the new bands either. I'm sorry it's not helping you to look forward to the trip!:guilty: Have they said when or if they are going to be rolled out?

That'll be me, I'll be more nervous too!
I'm not sure when the changes are being rolled out. I hope I'm just overreacting about them.

Well, the rental we were looking at with Bonnet Creek has been sold out :sad2::sad2:
Off to search for a Plan B! Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

In more serious news, my dad had an angiogram done yesterday. One of his arteries is 99% blocked! The dr said he's glad he came when he did because he was a walking heart attack. :guilty: So he got a stint put in but I'm still really worried about him. He's only 52 and he has diabetes, I hate that he's going through all of this already. I'm scared to lose him :sad1:

So sorry to hear about your dad, its not good when you lose a parent. He is the same age as my mom when she past away.

Oh, Heather, I am so sorry to hear about your Dad. I know you're upset and scared, but if there is anything to be thankful for--it's that they found it before something bad did happen. Was it an artery in his heart or neck or somewhere else? I can certainly understand you worrying. My Dad had a triple bypass a couple years ago and that was certainly scary. I'll be praying for him.

I hate to hear that Bonnet Creek is a no-go. Darn it. :(

I'm saying a prayer for your dad Heather. Thank goodness he's good about going to the doctor and that the doctor found it before it got worse. My FIL had a similiar situation when my husband and I first started dating. He was feeling fine, went for a physical for work, and wound up in the hospital the next week getting a triple bypass. Nine years later and he's perfectly healthy. I hope your father has the same results.

Has anyone here stayed in Art of Animation?? Come on people, I need tips and advice!! :flower3:

Stayed there in January in a Finding Nemo room with 2 kids (3.5 and 2) hubby and me. Murphy bed was comfy, pull out couch not so much! I felt like it was a good size for 4 people, may be a little tight for 6, but do-able. Kids loved the pool and the food court had some good and different options. Hope you enjoy!

Thank you. I am SO glad he got checked. He's usually stubborn about things but I am relieved he went in. Thank GOD. I am happy to hear your FIL is doing well!

Prayers and best wishes for you and your dad!

Thank you so much!

Ugh, hate to hear that about the sofa sleeper. I think Darren and I need the queen bed because the kids sleep with us, but if his mom is uncomfortable at ALL, it's going to be a miserable vacation for us all. What to do, what to do...:scratchin

So sorry to hear about your father. Glad he got checked out though!

In regards to Darren's parents, they won't entertain adjoining rooms? I know it's cheaper to do one room, but if it means everyone will be more comfortable, then is 2 better. As far as condos, we co-own Silver Lake (an RCI timeshare) with my parents. The back entrance is a minute and a half from Animal Kingdom. It's a really comfortable place and very spacious. It's a timeshare, so of course they'll want you to sit through the talk, but I don't think they can require it anymore, so you might be okay there. It might be worth checking out.

We are doing a suite because I only get one room on my travel agent discount, so we were doing it to save them money. I really want to stay at the new resort too. I can't get LM rooms with my discount at the moment, or I'd do that instead.
Thanks for the condo info! I'm going to look it up now. :thumbsup2

Heather, I know with you being a TA, you know all the ins and outs much better than I do, but just wanted to ask to see if you'd looked at VRBO or Home Away to see if there are any codos or homes available that might work for y'all?

Yep, I have emailed every VRBO listing that we like. There are 2 that are still available but our income tax is taking forever to come in and we were waiting on that to book. So I hope it's still available when we get it!
