DAS questions about switching from card to magic band

so are there any major differences? i went last march and it was still the card and it worked perfectly
now we are going back in october so i was wondering what are some changes that are noticeable? how will we see our return times
when setting it up will just my magic band be needed and just seeing everyone in my group or will bands be scanned as my party? i know it can only have 6 out of our party plus me

GR? sorry not sure what that stands for

but what I'm hearing is that when setting up technically all 7 bands must be there to get set up, but when it comes to the rides only one is needed?

GR= guest relation is where you go to set up the DAS

there you will need all the bands to be linked to the DAS
at the attraction you will need just one band and will have to tell the CM who is riding ( since you have 7 you may not all be able to ride together)

ohh ok

does it have to be the six people go in with me each time we have 10 in our group including an infant

but say we did a meet and greet and only 5 wanted to go but one was not one of the 6 that got band scanned

as long as only six go into an attraction with the DAS return time does it matter other than me who goes in

in order for the people at the attraction to be able to set up a return time you must be linked. I do not know how many people can be linked at GR but I have been told that at the attraction they can only pick 5 pluse the DAS person

- You will have to go to Guest Relations (same place as GAC) with ALL guests or their MagicBands.
- Once you are in the system and take a photo they will attach your guests.
- Standard and published info is DAS Holder plus 5.
- The system is written to have more on the list (DD trained on it) but I'm not seeing where folks are reporting back after doing big parties. Maybe someone can chime in if they have had success.
- Since you are trying to get more than standard on the list, I would think all 10 people have be there just like the GAC required.
- When you go to the attraction, anyone who's MB is attached to the DAS may get a return time.
- DD was trained that she may select the holder and 5 names - so she would ask "Which 5 people are riding with you?"
- She could see all names on the list, would scroll down, attaching the names she was told.
- System automatically gives you a return time.
- Time will show up on the MDE APP or you can write it down or most CMs don't care if you take a picture of their screen.
- Upon return DAS holder MUST scan first, your photo comes up on the screen, once CM verifies the remainder of those attached to that time can enter.
- You can only use DAS at places where there is a working FP+ line.
- If Standby is as low as 10 minutes, you enter Standby. The system can't assign a time of 0.
- You can not return even a minute early, system won't see it.
- You can return anytime you want but can not get another DAS until you use or void it.

This particular rule is completely up to the discretion of the CM at guest relations. Some people have reported being able to link more than 6 people to their DAS, others have been denied. Either way, you'd need to have everyone present when requesting a group that large.

P.S. The online chat are the same CMs as the phone line CMs, I believe. Which means you can't put very much stock in the information they give you.

I think the ride cm can only select 6 people to go on the ride so even if you can have all 10 in your party linked I think only 6 can go on the ride

Well I hope that's not true!! That would completely derail our trip.

For one special trip we had seven people linked by GS. All seven could go on a ride with the DAS return time. It was never an issue once set up.

I don't know if this happens all the time, but the two times we have activated my DS's DAS on our bands, the guest relations CM asked us which ride we would like to go on first and set up our first return time right then and there so there was no need to walk to the first attraction to get the return time. It was so nice to be able to take our time and simply walk to that first attraction once the return time opened.

I can see the limit being 6 and allowing 1 more person to go in if the total group was 7, as it would be unreasonable to have a single person left out. But anything bigger than that? The DAS was meant to assist a person who could not handle a stand-by queue for a certain reason. Disney allows that guest to have a companion, and small family group. But there's no reason why the others could not go into the stand-by queue.
