DAS Question - Skipping Ride Preshows

Hi there!
I'm asking this on behalf of someone I know (actually, it's for a patient at the doctor's office I manage). They have a special needs son and by my suggestion, is going to try to get DAS for their upcoming trip. She asked me if DAS will allow them to skip ride preshows like the stretching room in the HM, everything before RotR, GotG, ToT and etc? I told her I didn't know, but I would ask you all to find out and get back to her. If DAS allows her and her son to skip the preshows, she's going to mention to the cast member she talks to that DAS will be used for this, because her son would have a hard time tolerating these shows. If you could let me know, and advise her, on what to say to the CM when video chatting with them, I would be most appreciative.

DAS allows them to get a “return time” and use the LL. Anything else needs to be requested at each attraction. Some pre-shows likely can be skipped by request but those that incorporate ride safety instructions cannot.

I agree. The DAS won't have anything to do with skipping pre-shows, but if you ask, a CM may be able to accommodate that. I know they can help you skip the stretching room for example. It may depend on the layout of the queue and if there is a way around the pre-show room. I am confident that CMs will try to assist you as they are able to.

It's definitely ride dependent. I've heard it can work on Haunted Mansion. They will NOT let you skip the preshow at Guardians. They will just tell you to stand towards the back away from the crowd and wait for the crowd to leave and be the last one out.

Concur with the above. We've skipped the preshow for HM due to inability to see in low light environments. We've asked and been told it's not possible to skip the reshow at GotG. I don't know what part of RotR you'd be able to skip as it seems to all be part of the "attraction"? Maybe they could have you use that weird bypass they had the single rider queue use a while back? But I think most rides/attractions vary.

For rides with long pre shows DAS (or LLs) can only do so much. Eg I don’t think I have ever gotten through Guardians in under half an hour (give or take) even with a LL. Rise isn’t quite that long but there’s still a lot to get through. It’s worth talking the parents about coping strategies in cases like that where you may be transitioning but you are still waiting a non-trivial amount of time before riding.

I suppose my question is ... why does he need to skip the pre-shows? I think if she tells them she wants DAS because he needs to skip the pre-shows they they will just say he doesn't need the DAS (it's not for that) and he can just ask at each attraction. She will need other needs to present to request the DAS.

If it is time waiting, well the DAS has already given them the ability to wait the "queue" system outside. Getting an even shorter wait is not part of the offering.

If it is the crowding (say GoG) then you can easily stand on the empty side of the room, that is what we do. Some of the "pre-shows" (RoTR) are only a couple minutes before you get on the "ride". But agree with PP that asking at the entrance, they might utilize the single rider line (skips part of the actual "ride") but that would depend on operations at the moment. Neither pre show room there is dark or crowded. ToT there is a way, you have to ask the CM at the check-in desk inside the lobby. But it might not be option at moment. HM stretch room is dark and crowded so I get that and you just ask at ride.

She will have to ask at each attraction ~ as always it will be at their discretion depending on if it is an option at all OR if operations at the moment can support it.
