DAS Party of 17

Is it possible to have everyone in our party linked to the 2 needed DAS cards? It is fine if only 6 or 8 are allowed to be scanned, but it would be nice to have the flexibility to have the children experience different attractions with different aunts and uncles. Anyone know if this is possible?

I know they make exception for a few extra on the DAS card but 17 might be to much you might want to try a few people on the DAS one day then the next changing it to different people

that is a great idea the only person with a picture attached is the DAS holder so I think that would be your best bet, unless Disney has some rule about this.

While you can only find out for sure when you get to GS, I would guess that they will probably not allow all 17 members of your party to be attached to both DASs. They are only offered for the DAS holder plus 5 (for a total of 6) to start with, so you are already above their "advertised" limit. I would do what the other poster suggested and swap magic bands when necessary.

My disclaimer here is that I really don't know since I have never used the DAS system myself. However, from the new explanations of the magic band-linked version of the DAS, it sounds like once someone is linked to your MB, they stay linked until the DAS expires. So it would be very possible for someone who goes often with different guests (AP holder) to have a large pool of guests linked to their DAS, even if they only take a few onto each attraction with them.

If that's the case, I think it's possible that Guest Relations would allow all 17 to be linked as part of the DAS-holder's group, but keep the more normal limit of how many can be scanned for each attraction (DAS holder + 5 guests, I think). I think the OP was okay with that -- that only 6 people could use the DAS for each attraction. The OP just wants the "pool" of people to choose from to include all 17 members.

I think the 'exceptions' are for when you have a group that wants more than 6 people to be able to ride via DAS at the same time (a family of 7, for example). I think it would be unlikely that they'd let all 17 people ride via DAS as a group. However, I don't think that's what the OP is requesting.

I don't think the system is that sophisticated. It may be as simple as GS removing the other linked tickets/APs each time the DAS holder adds someone new.

Actually it might be. DD just got back from working the last year there and went through all of the new DAS training. She worked at one of the biggest attractions so it was used there by many. She said in initial training they told them there could be lots of names on an account attached to a DAS. When you got to the attraction she would scan a MB (that was attached) then the screen would show everyone on the account. She said at times a pain for them because there could be many on the list. She had to ask the guest who was riding and was told she could select an extra 5 names off the list. (I know others have gotten more than 6 so maybe there is something input that shows on CM screen that allows them to choose more). That is why they check off the names of who is riding when you get return time, because there could be more on that list. Now maybe they have streamlined it so that is not the case anymore but as an AP holder I was told that each time I came (every trip I may be with different folks) I could just add the new people. They never implied that they would take the others off the list.

Of course with anything it's an ever changing process but based on the initial training the system was capable of having a large list of folks attached. I would compare it to the many people attached to my MDE account that were with me once to go to a party or ADR. A year later they are still on my account and no I have never linked via Family & Friends.

CMs abusing the system by admitting more people than the number allowed.
Guests in the DAS holder's party abusing the system by pushing past the CM in numbers greater than allowed.

Possible future DAS option:
"Join My Party"
Someone with a DAS time (and only sufficiently many companions to push the wheelchair or otherwise assist) enter at the same time as the rest of the family or party, waiting in the regular line, arrives. (Only works where there is a suitably shaped rendezvous area in the ride boarding area.)

That's not how I read the post. OP was looking for ways that the party could alternate going on rides with the DAS holder. No mention of increasing party size or cheating the system. Sometimes people just don't ant help.

This was my interpretation as well. Back when we had the GAC or the paper DAS, we often had some aunts, uncles and cousins with us. We NEVER asked GR to put any more than 6 on our card because honestly I felt that was more than generous. At each attraction that we used it a different combination of folks would go with him while the rest of the group would hit the bathroom, get a snack, wander a store or just sit and visit. The names attached to a DAS make this strategy unworkable unless they give the leeway to have a pool of names to pick from when you go for your return time.

It seems a fairly easy work around would just to have people swap bands for a single ride.

I am not sure how WDW works, but at DL, the "linked" cards to my DAS can be changed when I am at the ride/kiosk... I just ask that they link the people I want for that particular ride. My party changes constantly, as do many at DL, so they had to allow us to change who could go on the ride with me. Hopefully in the future WDW will make it easier for people to change who is in their "DAS group."
