I thought I remember reading recently that FP+ doesn't run during the parties. Does that mean that the DAS isn't available during the parties also?

I have heard both yes form CM and no from people on the DIS so I am not counting on using my DAS card

Been doing multiple parties a year for ten years. No, DAS does not work during parties. If there is a ride line longer than we can do, we skip it and do that during normal park hours. The lines are much shorter than they are during normal hours so that only applies to a few - and if you go towards the end of the night even they are shorter. I think the thought process is you are buying tickets for the extras like parade, fireworks, special meet & greets, special shows, dance parties etc.

In general, lines for attractions are less than 20 minutes during the parties. GAC (Guest Assistance Cards - the program before DAS) was not used for parties either.

There MAY be a very few attractions that are able to offer some accommodations for DAS, but it's safer to just assume there won't be any. Because the lines are short, no accommodations are normally needed for attractions during parties.
If you call and talk to a CM and are told differently, keep in mind that the CMs answering the phone are at a call center, not at the parks. DAS and any other accommodations are given only at the parks according to Disney's written website information, so anything said on the phone is not necessarily what will happen.

  • Just purchased our tickets to MNSSHP in October!!! Planning on getting the disability Card for my daughter due to her diagnosis and needs, can we use it during the party hours? can you use the rider switch during the party as well?

  • Hi Susan,
I'm so excited to hear you'll be attending Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party in October! It's my favorite special event of the year and I think you're going to have a fantastic time. Of course, you are welcome to bring and use aDisability Access Service (DAS) Card to use during the party, but I think you may find that you won't need it. This limited admission event has such low crowds for most attractions that you can pretty much walk right on to every attraction in the Magic Kingdom. The same thing goes for the Rider Switch Service and in fact, FastPass+ isn't in use during this special event.

Susan, I hope you have an incredible visit!!

    Best Wishes,
    Amy B.

This is what CM at the rides and a CM at GS told me that you can use it bit for the most part the lines will be shot that it will not be needed.

but like I have been saying people on here are saying no so I am going to go as if I can not use it and if I find something with a line I need a DAS for I will just ask if I can not then oh well

Even things are on the Disney Mom's Panel, it's important to remember there is a disclaimer on the site that says basically that the advice given is not official Disney and is the opinion of the specific person answering (kind of paraphrased since I don't have time to look it up right now).
So, it's pretty much the same as information given here - not official.

Yes I know that is why I am going in thinking it will not work I do not want someone here to think it will not work and have a hard time if it really does work but I do not want people thinking it will it may be up to the CM at the ride too type of thing

here is the disclaimer for the moms panel

Panelists have received/will receive a Walt Disney World® Resort, Disney Cruise Line®, Disneyland® Resort or Disney Vacation Club® vacation for panelist and up to three family members and/or park tickets for their participation on the Disney Parks Moms Panel. The views expressed in the Panel are those of the panelists, who are independent contractors. It is very important for folks trying to plan a Disney trip to understand the Disney Parks Mom's Panel gives more wrong information than right in every category. I am surprised that it even still exists. Even many CMs are clueless when it comes to anything outside their operating area (and even then it might be 50/50).

From my perspective, I would feel bad if someone goes to Disney expecting something to happen that odds are will not. The parties are great given the lower crowds than a normal day but if you are a family that can only enjoy yourself if you are using FP+ or DAS return times, and you are planning to go on lots of rides - then maybe the party is not going to work for you because there is zero guarantee that you will be offered anything other than standby. Only you can decide if you can enjoy the party without or take the chance that you can.

There are no FP+ lines open, no FP+ scanners open, no way to get a return time and only CMs at the Standby entrance. There are less CMs working attractions at parties. Even though many of us have experienced this to know - even logistics say it won't work. I would have said in the past when there were DAS cards to show someone they may have sprinkled some pixie dust at rides where they could easily access special boarding, like IASW or Peter Pan but now that they are on our MB, it would require getting a special scanner.

A very good point.
With the Magicbands, there is nothing to show.

OP here. Thanks for the great replies! I'm still torn about the party. It would be the only time we'd be able to be at MK later than 7pm since we're going during MNSSHP and MVMCP time.

Our trips I've used easywdw to pick our days, avoiding the extra magic hours. Maybe we should skip the party and do one evening extra magic hour when MK is open from 8-10pm. I'll have to do some research on it.

Can you use DAS during EMH? Since the park would be open only till 10pm it seems like there would still be a significant number of people there compared to closing at Midnight. Maybe EMH wouldn't be worth it either if it's so crowded...

(I'll have two people with us that have Sensory Processing Disorder, among other things)

I have used the DAS card for both morning and evening extra magical hours the evening 3 rides let me walk on space mountain gave me a return time I was told by a CM that every ride is different on how they handle the DAS since the scanners do not work

Thanks! I'll be sure to ask again after this party season. Of course who knows what they will be doing next year when we go  I just wish it was consistent so I could plan

This is just what I have Experienced other may have other things happen to them like I was told the DAS could be used at the parties

We have been going to the MVMCP for many years now, and have also had the DAS (and previously the GAC) for my son. I don't think in all the years we have gone to the parties that we have ever had to wait more than 5 minutes for a ride. All the lines always seem to be at the character meet and greets and the hot cocoa and cookies. We actually go to two parties while we are there, knowing that those are going to be nights that we just blend in with the crowd so to speak, and don't have to worry about scheduling ride times.

A DAS allows you to wait somewhere else and use the FP line for entry to rides. If the FP line isn't being used then you can't use the DAS for those rides. The FP lines aren't open during parties so the DAS doesn't work. If they aren't using FP for EMH then the DAS won't work then either.

Parades and fireworks could be different so hopefully someone else can comment on those.

We had huge issues with emh
We was told on some nights we could use the DAS ams on others no!
At one point people where still using the FP line to get on space. Yet they refused to give us a time as emh where starting within 10 mins, yet the line was over 40mins meaning we would not be able to do it.
Luckily a cm came over and said she would give us a time. But it couldn't go on our bands so just come back in 5 min.
We did this and the cm had changed, we explained to the new cm,only to be called liars and that the person we was referring to didn't exist!! Lol
My youngest who is 10 then spotted the said Cm by the chains where you enter the inside line, so I called out and said that was the lady who said we could come back and enter, she called us over and told the male cm that she did indeed call us back,
No apology nothing from the male cm, I turned and said well thank you for saying we was lying to you, infront of our children and other guests! He said how was he to know.
Something more set in stone needs to happen on emh as the lines are crazy long in the evening, and it's pretty unfair.

Thank you for the update. This will help in planning our evenings.

I may be misunderstanding but I thought the DAS would give you a return time 10 min less than the standby line. In this case the DAS would have been for a 30 min return time. It doesn't seem fair to anyone waiting their place in line that they gave you a 5 min return time. Not exactly like front of the line with GAC but immediate access to the FP line on demand. The CMs should follow the rules or the whole thing could get as abused as the GAC and we know how that ended.
