We will be travelling with my mother this August. She has M.S. (Multiple Sclerosis). While she is fairly mobile, she has to visit the washroom frequently, and with fairly little notice. Rides with under 20 minute lines shouldn't be too big of a deal, but I'm afraid to get into any line longer as there is a high likelihood she would need to leave the line once or twice before getting through. Would this likely qualify for the DAS pass?

No one here can say yes or no. With this said I would have a back up plan for in case there is a time when a wait is longer then posted ( ride breaks down, new train added to the ride exc.). Also there are things the DAS will not cover like getting to the parks waiting for the fireworks the parade.

Also I would highly recommend getting touring plans app ( it is a paid app where you can find a discount for it online for around $15 a year). I know people that use this and really do not wait long (10 minutes) for rides. And just looking on the app for more FP really helps a lot

another thing to think about is some attraction ( mostly show) can be long 15+ minutes and this is without waiting for them. there are a few rides that have preshow that make the wait that much longer ( FOP has two preshows). Disney had a list of rides and how long each ride was but I can not find it. I know I printed it out if I can find it I can list any ride or show that is longer then 15-20 minutes so that you can decide how best to do them or if it is worth it for you.

I would look and see where the bathroom are in each park in case there is an emergency and she needs one now. I have some problems with needing to go now ( and when I say now I mean I needed to go 30 minutes ago now) I know I just told this story but one day after the fireworks was one of those time the close bathroom was by Casey corner and that one had a very long line that went out the door, there was just no way I could have waited so I walked into first aid and told them I needed to use the bathroom I never stopped walking and pretty much just made it. So if you are by first aid and you ( your mom) need to go now then first aid has them.

here is something that might help but also might not help so if not I am sorry. I know what helps me is to go more often then I think I need to. I tend to drink less water at the end of the night just because the bus takes so long and the fact I just do not want to wake up to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night, Also make sure you empty your bladder each time you go by sitting on the toilet for an extra minute. not sure if there is any medication that could help but maybe talk to her dr and see.

It wouldn't hurt to ask for a DAS. Might get one, might not. (they may be able to offer some other suggestion) Please know that you will still be waiting in line. If you have DAS, you will enter thru fast pass line. You still could be waiting some time. (Ride breaks down, there is usually a ratio like 20 fast pass people and then some from regular line). They don't usually clear fast pass line before allowing some from stand by line.

If you find that you need to find nearest restroom, there can be a line (including the companion bathroom). Do not hesitate to use the first aid restroom. I've used it numerous times.

Please have a plan for what to do if she is on the ride when it breaks down. She may be stuck waiting for much longer than expected while CMs evacuate guests. Also, even with a DAS, the wait for the ride can sometimes be surprisingly long. One time we had to wait over an hour because the ride broke down just as we got to the boarding area. And the nearest restroom isn't always close by, even when the return line is short. Ask for a DAS, but be prepared in case the request is denied. And run through all the worst case scenarios ahead of time with the response plan for each. Sometimes just knowing that you have a plan can relieve a lot of stress and anxiety.

she will be expected to do a lot of the pre planning herself such as wearing incontinence items. and even having the DAS * should she be granted one * does not mean the FP line will be any shorter than 20 minutes

all the other advice aside.. (and great advice!) I see no reason why this person with MS should not get a DAS, Maybe it wouldn't help.. most likely it would.. and just knowing she had it would be a HUGE help. so much is psychological (many people have issues cognitive issues that are not autistic) people with strokes, brain injuries, brain surgeries . the anxiety issues, panic, etc. with worrying about incontinnance issues. as well as other issues. I would not leave guest relations without a DAS for my loved one in these circumstances. insist on a supervisor if needed

No one can say whether or not a DAS would help or would be issued. To request DAS, go to Guest Relations in any of the theme parks and be ready to explain what issues you have that prevent waiting in the regular line.
There is a thread about DAS pinned near the top of this board. The first post is up to date- the rest is from even DAS first began, so no need to read more than the first dose.

It’s important to know what DAS does and doesn’t do, so you can plan.
- it doesn’t shorten the wait, just allows waiting outside of the regular line
- it doesn’t provide a place to sit in line, so if that is needed, you need to have a mobility device (DAS is not needed to use a mobility device like wheelchair/ECV/rollator in line)
- in many lines it doesn’t shorten the walk (many Fastpass lines are parallel to the regular line)
- it doesn’t provide immediate access; guests still wait and will/may still have a wait when returning to use their DAS Return Time.
- DAS can be used with Fastpasses and actually works best along with Fastpasses.
