DAS changes coming WDW May 20/ DL June 18, 2024

Yup, prior to June we had only been asked why we couldn't wait in line and usually asked to give some real life examples, but the CM we got in June asked about the diagnosis instead. She was adamant that without providing an autism diagnosis, they could no longer offer us DAS. I still think it depends on the CM you end up with which is unfortunate. Unfortunate, but it is what it is. We still have fun, just do fewer rides.
I think you should file a complaint with Disney about this because according to the policy the person you spoke to either broke the rules or the business has changed the rules with shadow banning anyone but people with the diagnosis:/

Horrible thing to have happen to you, sad to hear it.

In case it's helpful for anyone, I have an update on using non-DAS Attraction Queue Reentry (AQR)...

I'm a semi-local AP at WDW and visit fairly regularly, so this update covers multiple visits over the last 6 months or so. I previously had DAS, including under the new rules, but was denied at my last renewal and told AQR is the better fit for my needs because 1. I'm a single rider 90% of the time, 2. I have no need to schedule return times in advance or via app - asking at the attraction works fine for me, and 3. I don't need accommodation at every attraction, only when wait times are longer than I can handle - which is usually only 1-2 attractions per day.

So that's what I've been doing: asking at the attraction for disability accommodation as a single rider without DAS. All but once, I've been given a return time without needing to provide details, without lengthy discussion, without hesitation - it's worked exactly as it should. (The one exception was a tech issue at WDW's end, so after multiple attempts at producing a return time, they gave up and sent me right into the LL.)

A couple visits, I met up with a friend and we wanted to do an attraction together. They have the same disability I do, so neither of us can wait in a long standby while the other waits elsewhere, so we'd each qualify for AQR on our own and could just make the requests separately. But we decided to just ask together (mostly because I've got more experience asking and my friend was anxious about the process), and it was a non-issue: a return time was provided quickly and easily for us both.

In general, I've found that more and more CMs are familiar with AQR as time goes on, and the process has gotten faster over time. Once in a while, I'll get a newer CM who's never heard of it (which feels like a training issue, but I digress), but they've been polite and friendly about it and just called in a more experienced CM to assist. Return times have been anything from the exact same time as standby, to 30 minutes less than standby; if there's rhyme or reason to that, I have no idea what it might be!
