DAS changes coming WDW May 20/ DL June 18, 2024

If I had to guess it would be the mod who is doing that. They seemed determined to make it true, even after admitting they can't confirm it.

Once again though, what does releasing this prove? It proves that its not about the diagnoses but the symptoms and reasons for not handling the line. That doesn't help them, who demand to get DAS for just having the diagnoses of anxiety, a bad back or IBS.

Maybe I am being to logical. But this seems.... desperate.

Last I checked Disney or DAS are not a right.

Right. It didn’t have anything on it specifying it was Disney's or anything. Anyone could have wrote it. Not sure how one would even prove it is actually Disney's.

Tried to look back a little since I haven't popped on this in awhile. So, sorry, if this has already been talked about. We had settled into Genie+ serving us better than DAS primarily due to party size restrictions. But, with the fastpass revamp that was recently announced, I am finding myself concerned all over again. Having to make our lightning lane reservations before the day of limits our flexibility significantly and increases our likelihood of missing windows and forfeiting rides. Listen, I KNOW we can modify times on the fly. However, that is based on availability, so let's not pretend like it will be easy to adjust E-Ticket times day of when most users have had times reserved (and times have potentially been sold out) for several days before the actual park day. Am I alone in feeling like changing Genie+ back to an advanced reservation system like old fastpass+ was on the tail of restricting DAS is a double whammy? Just me? Over here anxiously waiting for reports after that system goes live about availability and such....
Genie+ seems to be about $30pppd so $120 for a family of 4 $180 for a family of 6 - on top of the increased entrance price. This seems to be the intention of the DAS denials. Prior bookings can only be made when on US territory so anyone coming from overseas is at a terrible disadvantage

My issue with he snapshot is that it can't be so cut and dry like that. What is written doesn't even make sense.

When it comes to kids and autism, ADHD and it can seem like the same thing when they are young if their autism is a level 1 or 2. The overlap is huge. and most kids who have ADHD have autism tendencies without being full blown autistic. The CM deciding can't possible understand the diffence in the tiny time they have. They also almost always have some anxiety and sensory issues.

That is why it is not the diagnoses, but the symptoms.

I won't lie, again..not to take anything away from anyone, But many of these post talk about crippling body pain, back pain and panic attacks, bathroom issues that they cant stand for more than 15 minutes in any cue. Pirates and small world can be longer..Makes me wonder how you do the stretching room or any of the dark rides And what about Peter Pan at the end when it hits that curb just right and jars you to your teeth or when all the boats hit at pirates and its a small world... those hurt for me an I have not back or body issues. Or Indy.. My daughter can't do Indy no matter what. Th invisible spears with the whooshing sounds is too much for sensory issues.

Again no disrespect,,just an honest question that can't be asked there without being call an ableist.
Lots of people are trying to justify their willingness to lie or otherwise to get what they “deserve” and thus they create a fictional version of their reality that is so extreme it makes them feel ok about what they are doing. Often times they repeat it so much that it becomes real to them. Nothing you can do but not engage.

The screenshot has been floating around since before WDW went live.

The reality is even with all the raging, the DAS is not going back to accepting everything like it did before. As long s the third party is control I think it will be tighter reign. It might loosen a little , but I don't think Disney will go back to the free for all.

Most in that group encourage each other to keep calling multiple times after being denied, to threaten the CM and demand their info, to record the denial convo's to show the public. They all keep calling back over and over, getting angrier and angrier every time they are denied for the same issues. Every CM is mean and cold and won't listen. According to them Disney is now keeping tabs on them in the parks and denying them because they are pass holders, and all it want's is them to pay for genie plus.

Even the girl from the viral video is more upset about having to pay for genie multiple times a week with her friends and thinks Disney should offer it to pass holders, then she is about the supposed denial of her DAS. They are not even honest about that video. the public sentiment is not with them outside of that Facebook page.

It all a little too much drama for the hell of drama. I worry about D23 and hat they are planning.

Wow I cannot imagine being a part of a negative toxic FB group like that

Yeah, tonight has gotten really bad. I had to finally leave.

The stories they are telling are more like who can make the worst, every one is worse then before, and every comment section of the new post starts a new round of frenzy hate and conspiracy theories. The occasional got accepted are even tinged with how horrible it was and that it took hours nd how mean the CM were.

They are psissed that Disney has not folded to their demands and that there are now positive stories out there in the news. They encouraging each other to lie, to record the the convo's so they can release it on twitter(X), and to get into the Cm's face. The went as far as going after an autistic boys u-tube channel and demanding he use his channel for their need. When his parents refused and asked them to stop trying to turn his love of Disney into their agenda they started blasting them on the page.

Ugly is a kind word for that page tonight.

When my son and I did the video call, he started to say his diagnosis and the CM specifically said, “please don’t say your diagnosis.” She was interested only in why he needed accommodations. She asked him two questions and we were off the call within 5 minutes. It was very quick.

Her only concern was that we had 2 park reservations in the system. One included my dh and the other didn’t. She wanted to know why he wasn’t in the first. Said we’re local and he’s working that day. Then she included him.

Yeah it went sideways fast which is unfortunate.

There's a place for advocacy and that page was doing a good job at focusing it at the decision makers, not the CMs until yesterday...it's a s@$% show now

It’s really sad the lengths some people will go to get what they want…

We have two kids who in the past have both qualified for DAS and I feel both will this year too. I read in one of the awful Facebook groups that are being mentioned that they won't give it to siblings. Our children ride different types of rides so we need it for both of them. Has anyone been able to get it for siblings since the change?

I've not seen anything either way, but the key will be explaining exactly what you said here - they ride different things, so if approved, they each need to be accommodated.

Being siblings is not a disqualifier.

Go through each of their needs and as you said they have different riding habits. They may offer different accommodations based on the needs

I have seen a few posts saying siblings have both gotten it, but they were larger groups. I don’t see why they both couldn’t if they both qualify, because like you said they may not go on rides together. Now I don’t know if you apply on the same phone call or not though. Hopefully can in the same call.

My guess is that there is more scrutiny, especially if you’re trying to get them approved separately to expand your total party beyond 4— but I would still expect siblings who legitimately qualify to qualify individually, but I probably also wouldn’t ask for separate groups of adults to be attached to each kid.

I understand that some people are angry or disappointed, but I don’t think bullying others online is going to get the results they are hoping for. I would be concerned about being banned from the parks completely if my posts were too volatile or could be seen as threatening. Perhaps those people don’t care. I would not be surprised to find out that Disney has people monitoring various websites and taking notes . . .

We have never applied for DAS, but we do have someone in our travel group with digestive issues that have caused us to bail on attractions, and even the park, in the past. I’m happy with how the leave and return to the queue reports have been, and we will try that if a problem arises instead of missing out completely in the future. We would have never known such a policy existed without a thread like this, so we thank you all for the information.

We have multiple disabilities in our family, and this forum has been invaluable over the last decade or so in helping us learn strategies for how to deal with them.

My friend who's children have comparable issues as my daughter has two children, both around her age, and both got it with no hassle. Same call. Party of 6.

Don't believe the Facebook sites. they have evolved form informational to downright nasty even turning on ANYONE who post positive or being granted the new DAS. They are nothing more then conspiracy theories and rumors they are know that are wrong and are passing anyway.

Be respectful to you CM. I found even saying good morning/afternoon, how is your day, helps reset the conversation from being so sterile. At this point the CM's know that these posts are fanning the nastiness and people are coming in hot, try to not be that and you might be surprised in a. good way at the respect you get back. imo.
