DAS and ADR.....same time??!!

We made our DAS selections for our upcoming trip and when I looked at the time for one, it is at 4:40 and we have 4:30 reservations at Via Napoli.....can I go after we eat???

The Advanced Selections have a 1-hour window. I don't know if they would let you ride if you showed up late and explained about an ADR. I suggested re-contacting via chat to try and change the time.

It depends on the attraction, we had this happen with a FP+ reservation for HM before and we simply went and explained before our ADR what was going on since our ADR was ohysically close by and they said it wouldn't be a problem.

An exception may depend on a lot of factors -- attraction, time of day, crowd levels, CM working the entrance, etc. That's why I suggested OP try to reschedule rather than simply hoping for an exception to be made.

We had to cancel our ADR and have just done quick service because we couldn't get evening to coordinate.

This is the downfall of these advanced individual selections. They cannot be changed and they are strict about the return window (unlike a regular DAS).

I recommend you simply cancel that advanced DAS and then rebook the same ride using regular DAS day of.

This is what I would recommend also. Simply schedule a day-of DAS return time for that attraction prior to you dining reservation. Chances are your return time will be ready after you have finished your dinner, and you can take a leisurely walk over to experience the attraction without worry. DAS return times secured 'on the day' do not expire, so you can go to that attraction whenever you like after the return time (up until park closing).

Ahhh. So it has a 1 hour window. What is it then that now has a window of 5 minutes before and 15 after? I'm getting confused. I like planning but this is taxing even my prowess. Or maybe I'm just getting old.

I believe Lightning Lane reservations via Genie+ have the 5 minutes before to 15 minutes after leeway. At least that's the way that FastPass/FastPass+ worked.

Regular DAS selections have a start time but you can redeem them any time after that until the end of the day; there's no end time deadline.

People say that there is ‘wiggle room’ that lets guests arrive 5 minutes before the beginning of their window and 15 minutes after the 1 hour window expires (DAS Return Times obtained the day of visit to a park don’t have an expiration time).
It may be some people’s experience, but it is not a given; it depends on the CM and the attraction. My family has seen people told to come back in 5 minutes when their window actually started. We’ve also seen people told their window had expired.
So, the safest is to expect to use it in the time window you were given and have an explanation If it’s already expired.
