Ok, quick cast of characters before the chaos begins and the roller coaster leaves the station:
1. Me, 33, lover of all things Disney. I'm the planner. Obsessive planner. Yeah, I'm THAT person.
2. Hubby, 33, recent convert. We went on our first Disney trip in '06, much to his resistance. Now HE'S the one asking to go there. I win...:cool1:
3. Daughter, 12. She's into all things Jonas...
4. Son, 3 1/2. He knows nothing but Disney. All planes are going to Disney and the Castle. We've created the super-fan. We might be in trouble.

So the family was watching tv late one evening when one of those Disney commercials comes on. The one where the woman was standing in the grocery line and gets the invitation. I wish all supermarkets had fireworks. Might make food shopping a little less painful.
My 3 year old Disney-freak son turns and says, "Disney world! I wanna go, on the plane, up in the air, to the castle! I wanna go on the Buzz ride!"
I turned to my hubby and said, "So do I. Can we go?"....

Now, this scenario happens in our home at least once a week. We always joke, sometimes we look up prices, look at budgets, but we never act on it. We've got a big family trip planned for September, and that was it. This time, we went too far...:confused3

So the next morning I go in to work and look up prices. Then consult my overtime hours I have banked. Well, they could pay for 1/2 the trip! I think we might be able to swing this! 4 nights at Pop (Sat to Wed)...we could handle that. It's shorter than our usual trips, but this is a bonus trip.
Then I look up air. Ouch. Cheaper to go Friday night instead...extra night. Ok, not bad, we'll go later after school. Saves alot on the air, and only a little bit more for the room.
But wait, Coronado Springs is only $113 more? We've done DVC with my parents, but we've only stayed value otherwise. This is our first "family" trip where it's just the hubby and kids going. No one else. Why not spring and go for it? But since we're going to a mid-level, why not go all day Friday too?.....

This scenario goes on for two weeks. Come this morning, our trip is as follows.

Animal Kingdom Lodge, Bunk Bed room, pool view (don't ask how it got here, I'm not sure we even know what happened...:lmao::confused3), 5 nights, dining plan.

My 11 year old daughter thinks we are still at Coronado Springs. We didn't tell her we made another upgrade to AKL. It's her favorite resort to visit, so she'll freak when we pull up there. And the bunk beds. Both the kids will LOVE them.

We're going to try it without park hoppers. I think we'll only need one day in each park anyway. And with AKL, if we need a break, our hotel will provide us with much entertainment.

Next up....the gastronomia...:laundy:
