Earlier this week we started watching Band of Brothers on Amazon Prime. We went to watch it last night and now it's no longer free. It's been move to HBO! Sure we can do a 7-day HBO trial to finish it but now I'm salty about it and will wait for it to be free again.

Have you ever been in the middle of a series and had it yanked away from you?

Sort of the same thing, but not lol, with Schitt's Creek. We watched Season 1-5 on Netflix. We can watch season 6 for free on the PopTV App, but it's not available on the FireTV stick. Grrrr! We have Apple TV with the PopTV app but it's at home. :(

Yep - "One Strange Rock" was on Netflix, then moved to Disney+. Since COVID, we now have both - and HBO, and I bought a ROKU to watch all of it and that has it's own (some paid, some free) programming. If I'm dropping anything, it will be DirectTV. I find local news depressing and there are no sports right now - almost never turn the box on anymore, and it's PRICEY compared to everything else.

This is most likely not Amazon's fault, but rather Warner Bros. (AT&T) as they are launching their new HBO Max service. The contracts on many things expire and then the content moves, jsut like it does for Disney+ for certian things. Amazon likely had no say in it.
I get that. I'm just disappointed.

We have Amazon prime but the only thing we watch is Grand Tour. That is the only thing we have ever streamed. It's all Dish in our house.

We started CBS All Access mainly for Discovery and Picard but also for more binge watching. For many of the shows you have to pay extra for the early seasons, so I don't bother with them. It's not the same as getting cut off in the middle of a series you're already invested in, but still annoying.

I know many libraries are still offline or are just starting to take returns and may be starting curbside or drive-thru window pick up but is that an option so you can finish out the show?

As far as the main premise I'm right there with ya; it's happened to me before between the streaming services.

It is on IMDb and IMDb is supposed to be available on FireTV. I was hoping to find it on Roku but aparently IMDb is owned by Amazon.

We have been binge watching a different series. The same thing happened to us tonight. We already pay for Comcast, YoutubeTV, Prime & Netflix. I'm not paying more. I guess we won't be seeing the rest of the series.

They did this with Doctor Who. HBO Max picked it up. Now, I'm buying the episodes on blu-ray or DVD, which is much cheaper than paying for HBO Max. I was able to get all of the David Tennant's episodes for $25.

Now, I binge whatever series I'm watching from start to finish. I started season 1 of Alias once it hit Prime. It's been a while since I've seen it.

Yes, we were working our way through the UK series, Death in Paradise. Technically, I watched them already with my Dad, but it's DH's turn. It was streaming on Netflix, and we got to Season 3, but when they launched Britbox it got pulled from the normal US streaming sources. The current series gets picked up by PBS, so we are watched season 8 that way, and just started season 9 in our area. We do have 1 DVD in our Netflix subscription, so once stay-at-home started, we started getting the disks and we are most of the way through season 4. At least it's a show, you don't have to watch in order.

I lost Season 8 of Call the Midwife when my DVR croaked and since it's been removed from Netflix Canada, I've got little hope of ever catching up (Season 9 has been broadcasting on PBS). :( I'll keep my eyes peeled for a marathon of Season 8 to record but I'm not hopeful.

We've got full HBO and network on-demand and pay-per-view through our cable company. We also subscribe to Prime Video and Netflix. We've got so much duplication of programming amongst all the services that the only thing we really focus on is each platform's original content, which is really great in a lot of cases. There's dozens of series on Prime we're going to focus on because we aren't really getting our money's worth from it right now.

I'm finishing up Man in the High Tower right now. I loved the first seasons when it was a fascinating alternate-reality story but this last one has gone deeper into sci-fi and that's a bit disappointing.

That's some BS. HBO used to do a Band Of Brothers marathon on Memorial Day. Last year they didn't, so I watched on Prime. Looks like this year they're doing The Pacific, which was good but not as good as Band of Brothers.

Classic Doctor Who. I started watching from the beginning, then my oldest started watching with me. Then Hulu pulled it and BritBox has it. I am not paying for another service.

What!?

Great, just in time for Memorial Weekend.

As I got on Prime to check “Band of Brothers” I saw that “Downton Abbey“ will no longer be available in early June.

Ugh.

I watched The Expanse on Syfy, then they dropped the show, and now Amazon Prime has it. But I don’t have that service. Another issue I have run into is a current series on some service I don’t have, but all the past years’ episodes are available for binging on something I do have, but not the current year. I guess I have to start waiting till a series is over to start watching.

Op your post is why I purchase all my shows from Amazon so I dont have to worry about not finishing a show

season 1 and the first half of season 2 were the best of Alias. It went downhill from there...
