Darn you, Air Tran!

AirTran does this to us all the time. But, it can work in your favor- if they change your flight, you can change it to a different flight or even a different day with no charge. DH and I were kicking ourselves for booking our Aug vacation to WDW for a Sunday, not Saturday, and AirTran changed our flight times. We managed to get a flight on Saturday, so we have a whole extra day in the park.

Maybe you should change your days if you can and add a day on either end...

Good luck!

:flower3::hug:

every Air Tran flight I have ever taken has been changed. They are just famous for it I guess. I know some people have been notified, but I never once have been notified of the change until I got to the airport.

We have AirTran flights for our September trip too - we got an email notification last night that the times had been changed. It isn't the end of the world but out flight out is 1.5 hours later which means we couldn't make the ADR we made in Downtown Disney.

I don't know if we are going to bother to change it for a small time change, but you can bet we would be very upset about being changed from a nonstop to one with connections. It really sucks that airlines can do this to people - I mean you pick a flight at a certain time for a reason!

Do you know if you can request a different flight even if they change your flight by 10 minutes? They now have a flight that is the same price we paid that would give us almost 3 more hours at the parks. Just me being a little greedy but a change is a change, right? :rolleyes1

Tink mom-

What did you decide? The EXACT same thing is happening to us. We are coming home from Orlando to MKE off the Wonder and feel that shorting us the 1 1/2 hours from the 12:30 to 11:00 flight will not work. I almost cried last night. Our rates were so good and coming in later and having to drive back to Green Bay makes our sitter have to stay with the kids longer. They also moved our 1st flight having us lose precious disney hours.

Just wanted to give you all a heads up.. air tran will not let you board if you are not at gate at least 15 minutes before take off.. even if they are still loading te plane.. the reason???.. they can't be sure your luggage made it?!?!! This happened to me due to a collecting flight so beware!!! the price is good but the service is not!!! That said I'm flying to Disney with them too, only ones with a direct flight from Indy!!!

They aren't the only ones with a direct flight to MCO from Indy. Southwest flies direct as well.

AirTran canceled the nonstop flight from MCO to BMI and put my husband on a flight with a connection in Atlanta. They sent an email saying they had changed his flight and to click somewhere to accept the change. Since there was no other direct flight available, I called and asked for (and received) a full refund. Then I booked him on a flight with a connection (the new ticket was $20 cheaper than the one we had before). They would have changed his ticket to put him on any available flight, but I rebooked it so I could get the discount. There are very few airlines that fly out of our airport, so I can't avoid AirTran altogether... I'm sure they'll change it again before we leave at the end of Sept.

We are driving, but my husband is leaving early to go back to work. We get to stay two more days and use a full 10 day ticket and he only misses 5 days of work for 8 park days. Without flying home, he would have used at least 7 (and probably 8) vacation days. He wasn't really relishing the thought of an 18 hour drive back home either...

Add me to the list! I originally had a 3pm return flight.
NOW... I have 6pm. Which means not landing in Chicago til 8ish...and not getting home til 10ish.

We fly Southwest to Indy direct. We have NEVER had a flight change on us with Southwest- they don't charge you for luggage, and they actually still give you some food!

Just saw this thread and had to jump in. They changed our perfect nonstop from Boston to a layover in OHIO. I called and switched to an earlier flight through Atlanta. I didn't know I could've gotten my $ back. If they do it again I will.

Thanks for the tips, wish I knew earlier..already booked flight, but will def remember for next disney trip!!

I will never fly AirTran again. :snooty:

They changed our connecting flight 3 or 4 times and then insisted we accept a 6hr layover. I lost count of how many people I talked to but I simply refused to accept it. I COULD NOT stay in an airport for 6hrs with my DS4.....impossible.

They finally found a change and were adamant that this was the only option we had. According to their new schedule for us, we would fly in to one airport but our connecting flight was flying out of a different airport!

WHAT!?! :confused3

The last Supervisor I talked to couldn't explain how we were supposed to manage that little trick. She ended up putting us back on the flight we had originally booked!

This happened to us last September...we went from a nonstop flight to a flight with a layover making our trip longer than if we had driven! This year we are doing just that and saving money by doing so too!

So if I may ask...is there any way I can get my money back since they changed my flights so many times already? Id rather fly southwest.
