We leave early tomorrow morning and are headed to DL for 4 daysI'm praying that accuweather is accurate and weather.com and nws.com are wrong. I was so looking forward to some swimming and sunshine this weekend. DS so wanted to swim in the pool at DLH. He's going to be bummed if we can't

Its been raining here in SoCal, and it is forecast to rain through Saturday. While that sounds bad, rain might not necessarily be a bad thing. You may be rewarded with lower crowd levels.

Disneyland has a large population of Annual Pass holders. There are estimated to be nearly one million Disneyland pass holders, (including me and my family). It doesn't rain all that often here in SoCal, so rain will deter the annual pass holder who has other things they could be doing that won't cause them to get wet.

BTW the rain is not deterring me from going on Saturday. My family and I will be there for the rope drop!

We are here now, just arrived today. And we have walked on everything.

Even got good curbside seats for the Christmas parade only 5 mins before it started.

It is a misty rain and we are from the Pacific Northwet so it does not botter us at all but we sure are loving the lower crowds. :cool1:

SoCal rain is a warm rain. I wouldn't mind it one bit.
We've been during weather like this and it's a real crowd controller!

I'll be thinking of you in the morning when I wake to 30* and am adding wood to the stove. Burrrrrr.

Enjoy yourselves....

Uhhh, I gotta disagree. SoCal rain is almost always a cold rain. Orlando rain is usually warm. Rain moves in and then moves out. In SoCal it comes in and stays all day and it is cold.

Not trying to throw a damper on things for the OP. I will be at DLR Monday myself and am hoping for no rain. And some warmth. But I know going in December is chancy and this was a last minute day trip for me after some business. :)

:wizard:

My favorite days at Disneyland have always been rainy ones! For some reason, riding BTMRR in the rain has always seemed especially magical to me.

There were plenty of people swimming at the DLH pool on a day that I wouldn't have even gone in when we were there last week (and it takes a lot to make me feel cold).

Prepare for major humidity. It was super humid last week when we were there. But even with rain, you'll still have fun. It makes the crowds a bit smaller.

I guess it depends on your definition of "warm", but yesterday it was in the high 60's, so I thought it was a fairly warm rain. The clouds can keep the heat in. My backyard thermometer says the low overnight was only 58. This doesn't appear to be a very cold storm, although we do get "cold" rainstorms by SoCal standards. Probably not by many other states' standards! Have a magical time!

Didn't want to post a new thread, but does anyone know if the rain stops would they still do the Mad Tea Party? I see the rain is off and on, but not much forecast for this evening. Thoughts?

I leave first thing tomorrow morning for 4 days as well. Totally freaking out about the weather. I know its way warmer than the snow and cold that I am leaving - but I went to San Fran in May - the daytime temps were the same and it was sunny and I froze to death!!

My biggest concern is the cancellation of the parades/fireworks and Fantasmic! - I wiill be devestated if I can't see these :( Sounds like they cancel these even if it is sprinkling :(

We are heading up tomorrow rain or shine, but hopefully a little bit of shine. They do tend to cancel at the drop of a hat here as opposed to WDW where you can watch the fireworks in a thunderstorm (we did, it was really cool). Most of the rides will be open though, I think RSR closes in rain but most will stay open.

I've never understood the no fireworks rule, seems like the least likely time to start a fire is when it's raining. :confused3

The forecasts vary widely depending on where you look so hopefully we'll all get lucky.

fireworks are dependent on the wind that comes in with the rain, if the winds are too high they are cancelled. It isn't necessarily the wetness but the wind. :)

OP you can still swim, but the rain in So Cal is cold, at least to me it is. Even if it's 65 outside the actual rain is cold.

Have fun, rain or not, you'll be in DL! :)

I agree :thumbsup2 ... I've found the rain in WDW to be almost refreshingly warm and welcome when we've been there.

You can't compare San Fran weather to So Cal weather. They are completly different. San Fran kinda is in it's on weather bubble. ;)

What is this warm rain and when can I feel it? I've never felt warm rain in SoCal ever, I've felt warm rain when I was in FL at WDW and that was interesting but rain at WDW is not the same as rain at DL, the rain is cold. I remember going to Disneyland in the rain and going on Splash Mountain and I found the water from Splash Mountain to be warmer than the rain.

To me it's quite cold outside with the rain, if it weren't raining then it would be slightly cool. I hope you have a fun time! They shouldn't cancel the fireworks unless the wind is extreme, cause then it can become hazardous and I hate it when it's windy and rainy because my face feels like it's being punched by water. Not fun.

I dunno... Being from Portland the rain we've felt in mid-October in DL wasn't cold. We went all day in jeans, a sweatshirt and a cheapy poncho and were quite warm. Wet, yes, but warm. There wasn't any wind though.

DH and I are here now. Our observations.

The rain is COLD and we are from the Pacific Northwet so we understand rain.

RSR DOES run in the rain we have rode it 3 times already today. :cool1:

Crowds are less in the rain. :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

I'm hoping for warm/rain free weather Christmas week. Would like to just enjoy taking in the decorations, and other things that don't require waiting in line due to the crowds. Will be a bummer if it rains. Last year we were in Arizona for Christmas, hit a cold spell, snowed at the Grand Canyon.
Hoping we have better luck this year!

I was about 30 minutes from DL today.

65 and raining.

I'm a So Cal lady, but to me it's just cold and wet.

Sorry,
Dreams
