Darling Husbands!!

I do all my own packing and all the planning for our dvc stays and reservations. It also helps That I bought our points myself.

Then you are not allowed to pack either!
Why not? I have impeccable fashion sense. Here's a picture of me in our 2 bedroom at BCV last January.

DH here who does all the planning and reservations. I pack my stuff and DW packs for herself and the kids when they were younger. She also does a pre trip list. Our packing ritual goes like this. It takes me 5 minutes to pack. It takes DW 5 days to pack. Towards then end of the process DW says "honey do have some room in your suitcase for some of this stuff." This stuff is usually a large bag of hair products, lotions, sprays, and god knows what else. The bag weighs about 15 pounds, so it needs to go on the bottom where the wheels are located. When that is packed, then and only then, are we ready to go!!!

OP here, Thanks for all your great replies. As mentioned by a PP we have such a short summer season in Scotland that I have to buy summer clothes now or the shops will be filled with Autumn clothes.
I really don't mind doing it for him, I love getting ready for Disney. I was just so surprised that he vocalised it.
After looking at some Disney fashion disasters I think it is probably for the best that I pick his outfits any way!!!

I asked my DH this morning if he needed anything new for our trip in September and if so would he like to go shopping for them this weekend. His reply: " One of the things I love about going on holiday with you is that my case magically packs itself with all the things I need in it. I have complete faith that this will happen in September."

He then left for work with me standing in our hall way with my mouth wide open.

Do any of you girl have DH's like this? Don't get me wrong he works really hard at work and at home. He is also fab with our DD, he just isn't into packing and planning!!!!!

DH loves for me to do all the planning, just let him know where and when to arrange the time off work. He does do his own packing. Keep in mind he will gladly make sure our matching family shirts will go with his shorts.

My DW is the greatest luggage packer in all the land. Her planning and space management is beyond compare. She can pack everything (clothing, toys, baby equipment, and food) for 2 adults and 2 children for a 2 week stay at the beach using only a Honda Accord trunk and duffel bags.

Who am I to mess with greatness? ;)

..... Uhm! perhaps you need to remind him that you're all out of pixie dust! :lmao: and that unless he wants to spend his entire vacation using the same pair of undies, he shouldn't bank on faith alone! Of course that's unless he wants to be totally clothed by Disney, Disney Pirate shirt, Disney t-shirt, Disney swimsuit for the whole of the vacation!

I just read that to my husband and he said... "and the problem with that is?" :rotfl: He also added to not forget the Disney crocs!

Actually, both DH and I ARE dressed 100% Disney for our vacations. So we really don't see a problem with that approach.

LOL, that sounds exactly like my DH! That's why he loves going to WDW, because I take care of everything, I just tell him where to go and when and he's happy.

I have the opposite problem. My wife sits back and expects every reservation to be planned out in every detail.

I make all the reservations:

DVC
Magic Express or rental car
Plane
Dining
purchase tickets

And then if I don't read her mind and not get the exact time see want I'm at fault.

Oh yea...I pack my own bag and my clothes match!!

I usually do all of DH packing (for other trips as we have never gone to Disney...yet) and one time we were going to my parents for xmas and I forgot to pack his undies...he tried to yell at me and I just said well if you packed yourself you wont have this problem.

He helps with his packing now but he is always a light packer and I am always throwing in more stuff for him (although now that I think about it he usually doesnt use the extras...hmmmmm...well just in case lol)

OMG!! My DH expects me to do EVERYTHING to plan for our trips. The only thing that I refuse to do is his packing. The thing is I am an early planner so I start getting my clothes out and hinting that he sould do the say... such as "Get you stff out or you're going naked!"
Then he waits until the night before and the morning of, at 3:30 am, to pack which stresses me to the max. Not to mention he has to have the 40' suitcase all to himself because he might need EVERYTHING he owns while we are gone for a week.

And then he laughs when I am stressed and driving in the dark to the airport.

:rotfl: I have a great DH just like that, too! On the day we leave for vacation, he gets up, puts on what I have set out and off we go with whatever I have packed. He never thinks about the vacation or wants to plan anything. He always has a great time at Disney but never particularly "wants" to go on vacation. He's happy at home. On the other hand, I'm ALWAYS looking for opportunities to go to Disney! He gave me our first contract for DVC for our 25th wedding anniversary because he knew how important Disney was to me. So sweet!

I could do a copy/paste ! :lmao: To be honest, I like to keep control. That way, I am sure that nothing will be missing !

I am a DW and have a DW (although if she heard me call her that she would KILL me!). I do all the planning, and through survival mode have taken an active role in packing. We have been through several of those 3AM wrapping up packing nights, and I decided that will not happen again. I try to have everything packed about 1 week before so that I am only adding the final components in the days before. My plan is always that the car is loaded the night before we leave because I hate last minute stress.

I usually have to check with her as to what T-shirts, Polo shirts, etc to pack and if we plan something like V&A's then we need a jacket. I usually have a nice outfit. At least I don't have to worry about her dressing like the guy in photobob's pic :lmao:

I think we can determine from this thread that every family has their planners and their attendees, and that some people should not be allowed to pack and there is a reason that some of us choose to pack for our spouses! I'm lucky that mine has a fashion sense and actually did know that our next trip is taking place in October (although she couldn't tell me the departure and return dates, at least she knew the months! :lmao:)

This has been a lot of fun and I look forward to more responses, especially those who have no fashion sense but want to post pictures! :rotfl2:

I too, think this was a compliment to you OP. Well done!

And this falls under the heading of "too much information"; but last trip I also forgot to pack "undies" and was forced to spend way too much on a 3-pack of "boy short" panties from WOD. This style is not made for the middle-aged backside that has headed due SOUTH. :headache:

I totally do all research, planning, reservations, etc. In fact, DH just basically says "tell me which resort we're staying at and when" and the rest of the vacation is up to me. HOWEVER, when we first got married 13 years ago, I was trying to be the good wife and pack for my DH for our week long vacation. I thought I did great, everything in order and taken care of. Now, we were only going to the beach which was two hours away BUT, when we brought the suitcases upstairs to pack, he brought ALL of the suitcases up. Of course there were a few suitcases which were nested inside others. When we packed the car and left - yep, you guessed it, I had grabbed the wrong suitcase and had him put it in the car. We arrived at the beach, went to unpack and when he opened his suitcase, he had nothing but another suitcase in his suitcase. :scared1::scared1: He wasn't happy to take 6 hours out of day one of vacation to hit the highway and go home to get his suitcase. Thankfully, he opened it once he got home and grabbed it and realized I packed everything BUT shirts. Oh thank goodness he checked, that would have been U G L Y!!! With a capital U!

So....needless to say, I handle everything BUT the packing of his suitcase for the last 13 years. :confused3:confused3

so we would not forget anything. We still end up having to buy something after we get to Disney because the TSA will confiscate our toothpaste or her shower gel which we forgot to put in checked luggage.

I do all the plane ressies, magical expresws, room ressies and dining ressies but only after her vacations are approved and carved in stone...

She packs her things (twice as many as she needs) and I pack mine (minimalist) since we can do laundry I don't feel the need for extras although we do pack spare undies and socks in my laptop bag :)

That sounds like a wonderful compliment... granted, more work for you. DH packs his own stuff. I've never packed for him. I pack my stuff, the kids stuff, all the pool and general stuff we need. DH is in charge of packing his stuff, and the electrical items... portable DVD players, cameras, phones, chargers, etc...and making the sure the vehicle is ready for the trip. I do ALL of the planning.
