Dapper Days in September - anyone else thinking of going?

I am considering maybe a surprise return trip with the kids for a short stay of 4 or 5 nights during Dapper Days in September. The great rates and the idea of us all dressing up works for us, and crowds would not be an issue if we are staying on site, getting up early, and taking advantage of the pool and September weather mid day.

Anyone else thinking of going? How early do we have to book to secure the great rates?

We are going! We booked a few weeks ago for the Grand. We didn't want to miss out.

We were at Disneyland recently and saw a day of the Dapper Days. It was pretty neat. We even visited a clothing shop set up in a conference room in the Grand Californian. The clothes were extremely expensive.

I don't doubt....but...vintage style, or just simply stylish doesn't have to cost a small fortune. There are on and off line shops that sell such nice clothing and at a price that may suit almost any budget.

My husband & I are going! I just booked DLH (our first time in a Disney hotel too!) for 2 nights. I have been wanting to go since I heard about Dapper Day in 2012, and it just so happens to be the weekend before our anniversary so we are splurging this year!

I definitely want t do this..as it should be around when I am finally well again and done with medical stuff. We were planning our first onsite stay in December at the GCH - but with everything happening this year thinking maybe with the special rates would be a better fit and I've been DYING to attend a dapper day event ! May need to discuss this with the hubby tomorrow :)

The pop up boutique was stocked primarily with high end vintage designer pieces. Everything in there was likely collectible or very one of a kind, which would explain the prices. There are a lot of other options for getting dressed for dapper day, though. It really is a fun event. I probably won't risk September again -- when I went last year it was 102 degrees -- too hot for me!

I agree here on the clothing part. Personally ModCloth is my favorite as well as thrift shops , estate sales and consignment shops.

With the heat I would like to only stay on site so relief is not too far away and having the chance to actually use the pool area would be nice too.

I'm already stalking out outfits and inspiration- one for day and one for night.

Day would be this :

Dress:

Cropped Cardi:

Gloves:

Ruffle socks:

Saddle Shoes :

and Night :

Dress:

Hat idea :

Shoes :

I am excited to see others plans and thoughts too.

I really like your collection. My most fav color is red and I also love polka dots.

Thanks I got the idea at 5am in the morning when I couldn't sleep lol.

I am OBSESSED with Polka Dots and though I rarely wear pink just love that dress and have been eyeing it for awhile. With our wedding anniversary just a few weeks before..I think this is a great opportunity for us ! We keep trying to make plans to do something special and with the special rates I don't think we can go wrong.

We have now officially booked at the DLH and I couldn't be more excited :)

I've been trying to figure out how we can fit one more trip in before out APs expire September 13th. Dapper days *might* just be the push to get us to just do it!

I love your outfits!!
I already started collecting things for my family.
My husband and sons are mostly done and I am just waiting for me and my daughter but I already planned out the outfits! I am so excited :)

The online site unique vintage dot com has a sale going on use code: Spring50 to get 50% off on select styles which makes the dresses as low as $49.00. Thought of Dapper Dan days when I saw the styles.

it's TOO HOT in September! last year i went and i was dying. if i do again, it'd be a summer version, cuz its too ridiculous to be that dressed up and melting.

Lol... :faint:

September def can be hot in So CA! Nothing worse than being dressed up on a stinking hot and or humid day! It can make a person feel like ripping off their clothing and runnin around buck naaaaked! Lol
I'm thinkin February is better for playing dress up in the parks. I was thinking about attending this September, but between the possible heat and timing, next Feb is looking like a much better plan for me.

That's what that was!

I was there last September with clients from work and we saw all these people dressed up (and I felt so bad as it was so freaking hot and humid) and my co-worker and I couldn't figure out what was going on and why so many people were dressed like that when it was so hot out.

Now it makes sense. ;)

DH and I are going in September and have reservations at HoJo and GCH- still trying to decide between the two. I have been scouring Goodwill stores to put DH's Dapper Days outfit together and I bought my dress on ModCloth. I am in love with it! I got a petticoat on ebay for $6 and will get gloves on amazon for under $5. It's been super fun putting it all together.

I'm hopeful it won't be a typical September day with temperatures over 100 but will plan lots of breaks in the shade, lots of frozen treats, and slow pace if it's crazy hot. We will just be thrilled to be spending three days away from the kids and celebrating our 11 year anniversary together at our happy place :-)

I'll be there anyway, and can't resist the idea of dressing up!

I read on the Dapper Days website that they're only planning to do official activities at night this year because of the heat.

I have just bought a light cotton sundress which I plan to wear with some cute Mary Janes, some lace gloves and a mini top hat. Definitely recommend modcloth too, even all the way from Australia :thumbsup2
