Dapper Day Question

At Checkout.

I'll have to look into booking our's for Spring too.

Checkout being your last day of the hotel stay?

This worries me a bit too as I just booked us for Mar 3-7 at DLH from the DD link. I also purchased airfare, so we're going no matter what. If they cancel our res we'll have to either pony up the full rate, or jump to a GNH, but either way we'll be there!

Whoever said they didn't cancel last February, I think they just have the right to if they feel it's needed. I changed our dates so we'd be there for most of our trip during the week, have one weekend day and then our travel day back would be Sunday.

Once again sir, you rock! And I looked at your trip report from last year...ya'll are so dang cute in your dapper attire :)

Glad to help. THanks for the compliments!!! Its a great time. I hope its not too hot this year. Better get going on our outfits...

Are you going in Sept and Feb? I'm praying its not hot in February since we dealt with the May heatwave!

Probably. I'll probably book our Feb stay this weekend. Drive out Thursday, do all day Friday, Sat, and drive back on Sunday after a full day in park.

Oh sometimes I wish we were close enough to drive. I remember frequent trips to Phoenix from Valencia when I was a kid and it was so much less stressful then getting on a plane. Now that I live in Texas.....that drive would probably cost me as much as a plane ticket lol

We booked our room too! This will only be our second time there so we are very excited!!!!

So I just read this -

Disney may contact guests who book discounted rooms that do not include one of the primary dates of Dapper Day Events, and may cancel those reservations.

...This worries me.

This worries me too and thank you so much for the information. I missed this disclaimer when I booked for September Dapper Days and we are arriving the day after the official day. I think it will be okay as DD is still happening at the GCH on Saturday, but this gave me the perfect :rotfl: reason to add a day today. I was thrilled I could still get DD rates for our hotel AND I saved money on our flight by moving it up a day. :woohoo:

Curious, does any one know an approximate time frame they might cancel reservations that don't include the actual DD? I'll confess that we were all in for the attire until we heard the crowd level is pretty high on that day. So I booked for March 3-7. I s'pose it could be argued as well that it might not be ethical to take the discount and not participate, but I figured if the reservation system let me take those days, it should be fine, and I figured the only reason they cancel is if additional requests came in that included the DD, and our already booked days. If that were the case I wouldn't feel bad because I wouldn't want folks who were participating to not get the rate they deserve. It would be nice not to have to go too long wondering though, so we could change our plans.

Based on what whoever said they didn't cancel any last year, but it could happen. I'm just being overly cautious!

We're checking out on the 28th. We'll be in Dapper attire that Saturday. Hopefully that's OK. The actual Dapper Day is Sunday, but the Expo starts on Saturday. I'm thinking I should be alright.

when doing faux reservations for sept dapper days it would tell you that arriving on X day meant you had t stay for Y number of days.

That's interesting sweethannah. I don't think it did that for Feb 2015, but I was making a reservation for 5 days from the 22-27. Just decided to move it forward a few days to be safe :)

You can still play around with the existing reservations in September to see for yourself. It would be nice if the booking engine for February did the same thing.
For example, selecting a 7 September arrival date with an 11 September check out gives me the error message There is a minimum night stay of 6 nights for reservations arriving on 9/7/14. Please search again.

An arrival date of the 8 September - 12 September says a minimum of 5 nts are required.

If you tried to arrive on the 15 Sept - 18 September it says there are no rooms available but if you arrive on the 14 September - 18 September there are so there is something in place to prevent ppl from taking too much advantage.

Interestingly enough, when playing around with the 2015 dates, if you make your stay short, before or after the weekend the only hotel option I get is the PPH, but if I include at least 1 night of the Dapper Day weekend all 3 properties are available.

Our initial stay was starting on the 22nd and we were given all three hotels as options, perhaps because we would have stayed through the start of the expo, but to be safe I just moved them forward a few days and we check out the day of the actual event.

Ohhh...DS and I are trying to convince DH that we HAVE to back for DS's 4th birthday (we've been home from our last trip for 11 days now :rotfl:).

For the September one this year there were a couple DLGN hotels that offered discounted rooms. I wonder if they will make that offer again (and which hotels it was offering the discount) in the spring as that may be a tipping point for convincing DH that we can swing another trip so soon.
